Another WWII movie on the Home Front. This is a remake of the 1949 movie. It's OK, but probably has a limited audience.
Fans of "Dad's Army" will enjoy it.
"The Scottish island of Todday keeps a daily routine with the locals, with the community remaining quiet and peaceful. However, WWII is making its way there, requiring the presence of Captain Wagget (Eddie Izzard) and the Home Guard, who work to set up military order, hoping to protect the locals through observation and border protection. When stockpiles of the neighborhood’s beloved whisky are depleted due to rationing, creating a drought for the bottle-draining locals, panic sets in, necessitating the cancelation of future events, including marriage for both of postman Macroon’s (Gregor Fisher) daughters. When a miracle arrives in the middle of the night, coming in the form of a cargo ship that’s crashed in the nearby sea, Macroon and his neighbors soon realize they’re in possession of 50,000 cases of whisky, with little idea what to do with it all. Hoping to restart everyday life now that there’s alcohol to share, the locals meet the wrath of Wagget, who’s determined to follow though his orders and maintain regulation, searching for the missing whisky."
