Who's going to London? (1 Viewer)

Brad

Bob is working on the show reports etc.

We did not get a shot ourselves of the new stuff but we know somebody that did and once we have them i agree with what your saying we will get them up.

The thread did not mention the celts or the chinese army. Anybody in Chicago would have seen Andys unpainted master. Well you should see them panited!!!!

And as for the new Cleopatra range the wives and partners sure are not going to like us collectors once they see the 'Cleopatra dancing girls' wwwwooooooo woooo! like to see the model they were based on!

Tony,
You're right: it was a DD65, not DD45 Sherman. That reminds me of an incident involving Andy and your Mum. A guy was quoting from a long list of sets he needed. (He must've been buying on behalf of several people). One of them was a DD set, which Andy thought was one thing and your mother insisted was quite another, and the buyer didn't want to take the wrong thing home with him. A quick check of the brochure list and your mum was right, to which there was a smile and the good humoured reply to the confused buyer "don't mind him, he just draws pictures all day!"

On the AK sets, they looked pretty good - the 105mm excellent - but I didn't see the British PoW there. (Maybe it was the tow of the human tide taking me away from the spot, as I didn't really have time to remain at any particular spot for any great length of time). I ended up down at the end of the display and I have to say that the Imperial China and the Ancient Egypt were particularly impressive. On the whole Cleopatra and dancers thing, well I suppose it'll make the Ancient Egypt a good candidate for expansion along the lines of Dickens or the Streets of Old Hong Kong, ie a good non-warlike series. I'm not sure whether the dancers will be to everyone's tastes. Personally I think they look elegant and graceful: by way of comparison look at the vulgar Pegaso Girls or the crude but slightly absurdist Fontegris figures. The Ancient Egypt series could be a really interesting one: there's always the temptation to produce a war-oriented series from this era and it's refreshing to see a civilian one.
On the Celts, I didn't see them anywhere - must've been a small display. That'd be interesting, as I could imagine doing a "Custer's last stand" of sorts along the lines of the carnage at Teutoberg Forest when 3 Legions were wiped out by Germanic tribes. The Celts wouldn't look wildly different as long as they didn't have too dated weapons etc. (The original Roman series was devised as SPQR, which if my schoolboy knowledge is correct stands for Senatus Populus que Romanae, a republican not an imperial Roman term. Celts would be the ideal opponents for much of the great battles of ancient Rome).
On the retired thing well at the rate you were selling the currently-available sets I thought they had all been just retired.

Thank you Tony and the rest of the Neville's and other forum members for giving us the low down on the big show. Sounds like Andy has some interesting items coming down the pipeline for future releases. I, like the rest of the forum look forward to some photo's. Cudo's Tony to the new UK K&C site. Fine job and I will keep checking on the live auctions.
The AK line I think will pick up steam with the new releases and like some of the others members have mentioned the previously released tanks and vehicles were well done. I only have the AK vehicles and the British Matilda and 25lb gun and don't plan on getting the rest of the series just because I'm so far behind on some of the other sets but the Rommel Special Halftrack Edition will be a must.
Anyways Christmas is coming soon and hopefully Santa will bring a couple of new sets since I finally have my own real chimney for him to come down.
If you want to waste some time try this little addicting game.Click once to start the penguin falling and click again to get the Polar Bear to swing the bat. My longest was 322.2.Enjoy!!!

Brian,

I think a lot of the AK and EA will retire soon and I'd get them soon, especially AK 16 soon and for those who don't have the 25 pounder I wouldn't wait. I don't have any inside info, just my personal feeling.
