Yo Troopers, and for you GIs over there. This model really has me stumped, as to why it was withdrawn and the title changed from "US GI NORMANY 1944" to "AMERICAN GI WWII". I mean can you guys over there see there would be any objections to the first title. The only thing I can come up with that Chas would go to all the trouble to withdraw this and re-issue it with the second title is, in the British Army US stands for Unserviceable, GI stands for Government Issue (seen the one about Galvanised iron). So you could read it as Unserviceable Government Issue Normandy 1944, which would not look very good to the brave hero's that landed at Normandy. That's the only theory that I can come up with as to a title change. Any thoughts from you GIs:confused:.
Bernard.

Maybe it was less about the "US" vs. "American" than about not limiting the item to Normandy??? Calling it a WW2 GI widens the potential market. After all, the GI going into Normandy in June, 1944 was basically equipped the same as the ones going into Italy, and not terribly different than the guys who went into Africa, Sicily and Italy before.

Yo Trooper, yes very good point, I had not thought of that one.;).

Bernard, I think the answer lies in the uniform. My references show that the vast majority of the US infantry landing on D day wore the drab m1941 combat jacket and brown trousers tucked into calf length leggings. The uniform shown on the Stadden figure seems indicative of a later period of the war. I also think that the colour of the figures uniform is a little suspect.
