I just saw this auction on eBay, and I nearly fell out of my chair:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-SET-HAN...I&itu=UCI%2BIA%2BUA%2BFICS%2BUFI&otn=10&ps=63
This is a group of homecast figures, relatively nicely painted, but homecast nonetheless, made from Schneider molds. Unless these figures were cast by the Kaiser himself when he was a lad, there is no way that they are worth $300.
The seller does identify them as handmade (though not as "homecast", which has a slightly different shade of meaning), but I suspect that she really doesn't know anything about toy soldiers. From her other auctions, she appears to be a dealer in antique china and silverware.
So, let the buyer beware, and you can never know too much about toy soldiers!
Prost!
