Hi Guys,
Greetings once more from ‘The Pearl of The Orient’ and hope you are having a very enjoyable summer.
Here in HK I have just returned from my Annual ‘OzTour’ trip down under to visit and meet with our K&C Aussie dealers and collectors in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.
In each city l had a marvelous time talking with King & Country enthusiasts and gathering a lot of very good original ideas and suggestions.
In addition, I also get the opportunity to visit some of the homes of collectors who have amazing collections which they have assembled and displayed to great effect in all kinds of large and expansive dioramas which cover almost every historical era from Ancient Egypt and Rome and then up through the Medieval period to the Colonial Wars of the 19th century and then on to the cataclysms of the Two World Wars and more modern conflicts such as Vietnam and the Falklands. Simply outstanding and often breath taking!
Talking of diorama / displays… During my visit down under I was also launching our very own K&C UH-1 ‘Huey’ helicopters which have proved to be exceptionally popular.
Upon my return here I wanted to produce a simple little display setup showing the versatility of these two K&C iconic versions of the ‘Huey’…
The first is called ‘Winning Hearts And Minds’ and shows two of the most important missions of the U.S Marines in the Vietnam conflict… Capturing and questioning Viet Cong and suspected V.C. during an airborne sweep of an area known to be under the control of the communists.
Then, at the same time Navy Corpsmen attached to Marine units would often provide simple, basic first aid and medication to local villagers especially women and young children.
Two of the other setups show quite different scenes including landing in a ‘hot’ LZ (Landing Zone) and taking up all-round defence… and also evacuating wounded ‘Grunts’ in the middle of a firefight.
Hope you like them and all the best!
Andy
P.S. Thanks also to Wm. Britains for their excellent Vietnam backdrop which I had blown up to the same size as our jungle base.
