HELLO to all my brother and sister VETS!!! {sm4} IN the US and abroad.

THANK YOU for all you have done for this country and the world ….{bravo}}

I won't say a Happy memorial day, since that seems a bit in contrast to the meaning of today.
But, have a wonderful day with family and friends, going to parades, delicious BBQ's.

My day will be eating chicken and steak; watching as much of … "VICTORY AT SEA" as possible … and spending time with "SAM ADAMS":p

On May 27, 2007—Memorial Day—Mary McHugh mourns her dead fiancé, Sgt. James Regan, in Arlington National Cemetery's Section 60. Regan had been killed by an IED explosion in February in Iraq.

Here is the story behind the photo, https://www.theguardian.com/artandd...arlington-cemetery-washington-dc-memorial-day

That's soul crushing.

Nothing "happy" about Memorial Day, it's a sobering day, I think about my Dad, my two grandparents, my five uncles and my brother, all of whom served their country and fought in four wars.

No BBQ's, parades or beaches for me on this day, just reflection.

All,

I said "Happy" Memorial Day once to a fellow vet and he read me the riot act...that was last year via text. I was just sending out a well wish that's all, but I get it. Yeah, certainly a day of reflection and while I was reflecting the wife told me that she ain't cooking so I better "figure it out". So, I went to HEB picked up some jumbo gulf shrimp, sausages, macaroni salad and some Kirin Extra Dry beers came home and grilled them up. My shrimps were just alright and I burned the sausages. I should have done burgers but I was not expecting to be cooking yesterday.

Anyway, came back to my office and looked at an old polaroid card stock photo of my uncle in Vietnam, some pics of me and buddies in Japan and touched my grandfather's 48 star flag...y'know just fidgeting with the pleats of the folded flag.

So, yeah reflection, reminiscing, chuckling to myself and wishing good vibes to my comrades in arms who are out there...somewhere...everywhere.
