Finally found at the library the CBS WW1 documentory, narrated bt Robert Ryan. I believe it was done at least 20 years ago, if not more. Not a whole lot of new film from the war, but the narration is great. Not to complicated and really spells thing out in an easy format to follow.
I also have a more recent WW1 series. I believe this was an English production. Now this had film I had never seen.
In my mind relative to your average foot soldier this had to be the worst war ever.

I have three superb DVD series on WW1.First and best of them all is 'The Great War' seven disc set.A Fantastic series and the forerunner to 'The World at War'.Second i have '1914-18' narrated by Dame Judi Dench which is very good too.And finally i have C4's more recent series 'The First World War' highly acclaimed and well worth getting.
