A little set-up of some WWl Germans. Guard Corps trench raiders in front. Guard Corps were made matt by a New York man who passed away. I don' know if his son still makes the figures. Other figures are Frontline and castings. J

Hey John

I think they not only need some arty but a bit more protective cover as well. :)

Very very cool setup- I really like them. Question- are those supposed to be explosions or campfires? I am thinking explosions.

Take care
CC

i think you need a lot more fighting soldiers because you have 7 standing comanders and only 5 fighting soldiers which is look funny.I think if you have a small unit in a bunker like this one two or three comanders are enough, the rest should be fighting soldiers.Since you have a lot of comanders than you need to make a big fighting unit with 7 or more comanders but than at least you need 40 soldiers-that is just my humble opinion;)

Generals were just an added attraction to the picture. I was not making a historical scene.:) The explosions are castings.

They look like goverment workers. 5 fighting and 7 watching them LOL.

Just kidding, looks nice. ;)

Where did you get the explosion castings? I've been looking for some like that.

Hi, John! Actually, Guard Corps was a collaboration between Ed Lober and Alan Silk, both of whom have since passed away. I think Ed passed first, and then Alan tried to keep the line going on his own. He was contracting with a company in China, FairTech International, to take over more of the production, but then he passed away. FairTech now carries some of Guard Corps' sets in their catalog, but from a comment a dealer made at the East Coast Show in November, it sounds like they don't actually have the rights.

Their respective survivors were selling completed sets at shows here in the East Coast for a couple of years after Ed and Alan were both gone, liquidating the existing stock.

Have you heard anything more recently? If someone were to start producing the line again, that would be fantastic.

Prost!

Thanks for the info Brad. I picked up only four a couple of years ago at Chicago. I will ask my buddy Bob if they are still making any Guard Corps figures. I know he was buying their figures when they were making them. John

I snap up the Kaiser Alexander Grenadier sets, when I can find them.

Ed and Alan used to come to the MFCA show every year, until Ed passed, and then Alan stopped making the rounds.

The gentleman who said something about FairTech was working with Sergei Ilyashenko at his table, at the Hackensack show, but he was busy with customers, so I didn't get to talk to him any further.

Their Civil War sets were very nicely done, too. And from the Civil War Union cavalry, they branched out into a Seventh Cavalry series.

Alan and Ed had previously collaborated on the Cavalier line, in the 70s, and in the mid-70s, they bought the old Vallance line and produced those, too. In a sense, Guard Corps was a sort of revival of their previous work together.

I recommend the figures very highly. Individually, they might not look like much to some, but when you put up a display of many sets in any of the series, they're impressive.

Prost!
Brad
