I don't like glossy figures and thus have found myself stuck when it comes to WWI given that K&C haven't yet gone there. I was surprised the other day to notice that Grenada Studios have a few figures on offer:

However, at $70-$100 for a foot soldier and $200-$300 for a mounted figure I can get custom-painted Andrea, Pegaso etc for better prices. Does anyone know of a producer of good quality WWI figures? I looked around William Hockler and so forth but didn't see anything.

Hi,

Check out the folks at Camp Randall they have some very nice sets available and the Old Northwest Trading Company is about to embark on WWI sets so check them out too.

Hiriart, although they are glossy, 54mm, makes a large number of WW I sets. They are traditional, marching sets, but they have unusual (rarely seen) units. For example, you can get mountain troops from Italy (Alpini), France (Chasseurs Alpin), and Germany (Alpen Korps). They also have mountain gun sets with mules to match. The sets retail for $110 and contain nine figures.
