That's kind of misleading in the article: they didn't have widespread carry-on voice transmitting technology but they were capable of transmitting and receiving Morse code then in those kind of devices!....

Thanks, I knew that Morse Code transmission was already around since 1901/1902 with Marconi's wireless.
