Hello! Go on this Website (AFRIKAKORPS.COM), there you wil see the ENTIRE DAK, Italians French Germans Australians ETC!This Italian AB-41 is Shown with Other Colors beside DAK! I'm Now asking CS to MAKE the other 3-Italian Vehicles ---M-13/40 Tank--Semovente 40-Self Prpopelled, and AS42-SAHARIANA--Recce Car! CIAO!
You have to look on the Side of the Website(AFRIKAKORPS.ORG) and their shows all the Photo's that you desire to look at! Its their Gidieon and other Form Member's, seen this site! CIAO!
You are kidding about the Italian Army serving in the Desert, right?
Tongue in cheek Brad, tongue in cheek, thats all I will say! Do u think Johnny noticed?
I'm Not Implying that the Italian Army, didn't compete with the German DAK; but they did their Job as Soldier's and they gave their Lives also, for what they believe was their cause! CIAO!
I have to agree Johnny its a great looking piece, just a shame it never apeared in Normandy or the BOB. I can't find any records of it actually
serving with a DAK unit either, but I suppose if you let your imagination run wild a little you can find a place for it somwehere! Now where are those warbirds we were promised?
Hmmmmm - well I went on the website John at your suggestion and there are no pictures of the Autoblinda there in DAK colours or maybe my eyesight is failing me?! If you could maybe provide a link or copy and paste a photo from the website of said vehicle you could put me out of my abject misery? Ta very much. At the same time maybe you could do me a big favour and also find one serving in Normandy or BOB - you might be a long time looking is all I can say. Still a nice looking vehicle though, just shame about the fantasy colour schemes used. Anyway it's Brians train set and if this is how he wants to run it then fair play to him although I'm not buying a ticket for this ride. I would have preferred a true Italian version to be honest but suspect it would not have been too popular with the punters.
Dearest Olly Read,
I can only say I admire your steely eagle eye and your ability to say as it is, however before I trumpet your praise too loudy:
Autoblindo in the service of the DAK:

Autoblindo in well documented continental paint scheme:

Is Italeri incorrect too?

And the list goes on and on and on.
Backstory:
In construction of our AB43 model we consulted many sources for reference one readily available for your reading pleasure is Autoblindo AB 41 & AB 43 by Auriga publishing. What we found after measuring the available orthographic illustrations was: there is virtually no difference between the AB 41 and AB 43 save for a slightly larger turret on the latter. Guess what happens when you manufacture at 1/30th scale? The size difference is barely discernable. What does all that mean? When you buy our model you've really got both variants in one neat little package.
Also any SS unit doing " work " in the Balkans or Ukraine had ready access to surplus Italian vehicles for anti-partisan work. Guess what: 10th SS Frundsberg was in both! Hence the logic of having Autoblindo in the Western theatre. Keep in mind, of you don't see a photograph that proves it " it don't mean it didn't happen ".
Anyhow the above gives you just a short preface of the logic behind our vehicle choice and the obvious authenticity of it.
The AB43 and 41 obviously saw service from Afrika all the way to Holland and everywhere in between to say this vehicle is fantasy is totally incorrect and sounds quite revisionist to me . But cheers anyway!
Happy Collecting!
Brian
