I have to agree Johnny its a great looking piece, just a shame it never apeared in Normandy or the BOB. I can't find any records of it actually
serving with a DAK unit either, but I suppose if you let your imagination run wild a little you can find a place for it somwehere! Now where are those warbirds we were promised?

Hello! Go on this Website (AFRIKAKORPS.COM), there you wil see the ENTIRE DAK, Italians French Germans Australians ETC!This Italian AB-41 is Shown with Other Colors beside DAK! I'm Now asking CS to MAKE the other 3-Italian Vehicles ---M-13/40 Tank--Semovente 40-Self Prpopelled, and AS42-SAHARIANA--Recce Car! CIAO!

There is no such site John. Could you please give us the correct address.

Hmmmmm - well I went on the website John at your suggestion and there are no pictures of the Autoblinda there in DAK colours or maybe my eyesight is failing me?! If you could maybe provide a link or copy and paste a photo from the website of said vehicle you could put me out of my abject misery? Ta very much. At the same time maybe you could do me a big favour and also find one serving in Normandy or BOB - you might be a long time looking is all I can say. Still a nice looking vehicle though, just shame about the fantasy colour schemes used. Anyway it's Brians train set and if this is how he wants to run it then fair play to him although I'm not buying a ticket for this ride. I would have preferred a true Italian version to be honest but suspect it would not have been too popular with the punters.

 You have to look on the Side of the Website(AFRIKAKORPS.ORG) and their shows all the Photo's that you desire to look at! Its their Gidieon and other Form Member's, seen this site! CIAO!

I just looked mate and all the AB41's there are in ITALIAN markings apart from the one in the museum right at the bottom in colour, even that has an Italian plate. OK somebody has written Afrika Korps in white across the front of it but as none of the other DAK vehicles in Rommel's inventory had this stencilled on their vehicles, I think you can say it's a museum stencil job - what do u think buddy? Maybe somebody at the museum was trying to tell all the people who must flock to see this vehicle, that this one served in the desert as part of the Italian army attached to the DAK. Could be wrong of course - did the Italian army even serve in the desert? I wish you were right as I would have bought one quicker than John Wayne can draw his pistol but it's not going to happen in my life time. :)

You are kidding about the Italian Army serving in the Desert, right?

 I'm Not Implying that the Italian Army, didn't compete with the German DAK; but they did their Job as Soldier's and they gave their Lives also, for what they believe was their cause! CIAO!

I'm with you on that one mate - God bless the Italians!

It is so nice when you forum bullies come out to pick on John...Also ,if you need help doing a real search, you might find more info on the Autoblinda than you actually bothered to look for.....Michael

At 1/28th scale, how does the CS armour compare to K&C armour at 1/30th scale. How does the detail and quality compare? Do they look OK together side by side? i.e the AB-41 next to a K&C SdKfz 222 or Panzer III?

Dearest Olly Read,

I can only say I admire your steely eagle eye and your ability to say as it is, however before I trumpet your praise too loudy:

Autoblindo in the service of the DAK:

Autoblindo in well documented continental paint scheme:

Is Italeri incorrect too?

And the list goes on and on and on.

Backstory:

In construction of our AB43 model we consulted many sources for reference one readily available for your reading pleasure is Autoblindo AB 41 & AB 43 by Auriga publishing. What we found after measuring the available orthographic illustrations was: there is virtually no difference between the AB 41 and AB 43 save for a slightly larger turret on the latter. Guess what happens when you manufacture at 1/30th scale? The size difference is barely discernable. What does all that mean? When you buy our model you've really got both variants in one neat little package.

Also any SS unit doing " work " in the Balkans or Ukraine had ready access to surplus Italian vehicles for anti-partisan work. Guess what: 10th SS Frundsberg was in both! Hence the logic of having Autoblindo in the Western theatre. Keep in mind, of you don't see a photograph that proves it " it don't mean it didn't happen ".

Anyhow the above gives you just a short preface of the logic behind our vehicle choice and the obvious authenticity of it.

The AB43 and 41 obviously saw service from Afrika all the way to Holland and everywhere in between to say this vehicle is fantasy is totally incorrect and sounds quite revisionist to me :) . But cheers anyway!

Happy Collecting!

Brian

Good for you, Brian. I found the same sources, and have a DAK version being shipped to me..This is more about cyber bullying, than the validity of your vehicle. Michael
