Hello, I was wondering your opinions on the new K&C Marder WS317 if any of you purchased it yet. Sometimes the colors in the pictures and the model in person look much different. Also, if anyone can provide me with the height from top to bottom it would be very much appreciated. The camo pattern on the new Marder would probably go well with the Jagdtiger WS180 but the Jagdtiger came out late and the Marder was an earlier model. Maybe I can put them together in a diorama or they may look odd having older anti-tank models with later anti-tank models.
Thanks a lot,
Rob

The stock photos of it look good. Why don't you buy one and give us all the Front Line scoop !

The Marder I was not the first Marder produced. The K&C model has what looks like late war 2-colour camo suitable for Eastern Front and Western Europe. They first equipped 6 or 7 Infantry Divisions on the Eastern Front in Aug 1942 in Panzerjäger Abteilungen (Anti-tank Battalions) and some were in service as late as Apr 1944. Sturmgeschütz Abteilung 200 of the 21st Panzer Division had 24 Marder I in Normandy and opposed the Canadians near Caen. The 17th SS Panzer-Grenadier Division "Götz von Berlichingen" got a company of 12 Marder I early in 1944 - all destroyed in the Normandy fighting.. I've read that there six Marder I still in use in March 1945. There were still many Marder I in service on the Western Front when Jagdtigers showed up in late 1944/early 1945.

Thanks for the news, you sure know your history. I think I can now put the Marder I and Jagdtiger together now without someone correcting me. The paint patterns would look nice together. thanks again and take care.

The Jagdtiger and Marder I could have been in the same region but would not have been in the same batallions.

Hello, can you give me your opinion on my fall K&C display? Do you think the models and camo match up with history? I think maybe a K&C BBG016 would be better in the middle. thanks,

There were no Marder I's in the Ardennes . No Marders of any model were used in the Battle of the Bulge . They had been replaced in the Volksgrenadier Divisions and regiments by Hertzer's, Stug III and IV's and Jagdpanzers.
Not many Tiger I's around either. Panzerkompagnie "Hummel" had 8 Tiger I's and was during the BoB attached to the 506th Schwere Panzer Abteilung equipped with 42 Tiger II's. Lots of Hertzer's,Stugs III and IV, Panzer IV's and Panzer V's.
Kampfgruppe Peiper had 45 Tiger II's. Schwere panzerabteilung 301 had lots of Tiger I's but did not participate in the BoB( they never reached the battlefield)

Yes the JagdPanther was there ,the Jagdtiger was not
At the beginning of the BoB not more than 20 jagdpanthers were combat ready
sPzJgAbt 559 had 5 of them combat ready
sPzJgAbt 519 had 4
sPzJgAbt 560 had 11
SPzJgAbt 615 had none

Nice shot of the interior. Nicely done interior too. All that's missing is a crew for the fighting compartment

Terry

Yes, it is missing some men. Maybe I can try some men on the side talking or taking a break. I have other units with men in the model so it may be time for a change.

this surely is a great model and also you took some great pics of it .
guy:)
