I wish these manufacturers would bring out stuff from July 1916. To me that is the most memorable part of WW1. The early days of 1914 are interesting and the uniforms are great but whenever I think of WW1 I always think of the Battle of the Somme.

Hi Guys,
Like Damian I’m also interested in 1916 and the Somme. However, I’m also fascinated by the Marne in 1914… the Battle of Mons also in 1914… Gallipoli and the Dardanelles 1915… Paschendale 1917… the Arab Revolt led by Lawrence… Australian Light Horse at Beersheba… Americans in Belleau Wood and the Argonne… Great German Offensive of 1918… I could go on but you get the general picture.
World War One is a veritable treasure trove of great ideas for whole new ranges… Watch this space!
Best wishes and happy collection!

P.S. Not to mention Verdun… Russian Revolution etc.,etc.,etc.
Andy,
I hope you're really considering the lighthorse. That great cavalry charge at beesheba after a desert march is the stuff of legend. I would love to see that, with the sculpting talent you have now, it would be magnificent.

Great list! Among all these other great subjects don't forget Canadians at Vimy Ridge (Arras Offensive 1917). But if you do Passchendale I'll be happy - World War 1 was the one and only time in history when Canadians can rightfully claim they had the best army in the entire world. That's why we kept getting the hardest assignments like the mud hell-hole that was Passchendale (a movie about Passchendale is coming out next year, produced and directed by Canadian actor Paul Gross who some of you may have seen playing a Mountie in the series due South).
Anyway, another interesting battle on the always overlooked Eastern front is Second Tannenberg 1914, when the Germans dealt a crushing defeat to the Russians. After the battle the Germans rejoiced that they had finally avenged the defeat of the crusading Teutonic Knights at the first Tannenberg battle 500 years earlier in 1410 (another great potential line for your Cross and Crescent Series!). In First Tannenberg an ancestor of Hindenburg had been killed. So the Germans erected a monument at Tannenberg in 1927 proclaiming their victory, but unfortunately for the Germans the Soviets beat them there again in WW2 and tore it down.A lot of one-upmanship and national pride is mixed up in that location.
