Just doing some research at work and came across this interesting statistic.

The mortality rate for the men of the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) in WW1 was twenty percent. Between 1901 and 1910 the mortality rate for Australians between 20 and 39 years of age was fifteen percent. Peace was pretty dangerous as well!
