This upcoming piece in December of this year may be my first Frontline piece I purchase. What do you guys think? The Death of the Red Baron.

Have you seen, one of the German soldier have a shield !!!

Yes, improvised trench armor, at least, I think it represents a piece improvised in the field, and not factory-produced, although there was also purpose-made armor developed and issued to troops.

The Germans had a piece of jointed frontal body armor that covered the chest and groin, too.

I understand, too, that as the trenches developed and both sides realized that they needed more protection that either the leather Pickelhaube or cloth peaked service cap offered, they were influenced by medieval armor designs that were native to each country. The Germans' Stahlhelm, for example, was supposed to have been influenced by the bassinet that was common in Germany in the 1400's or early 1500's. And the Brits' tin had was similar to the round pot helmet common in England in the late medieval period.

The WWI experts can probably add more info and correct me, if I'm wrong.

Prost!

I'll be on that von Richthofen set in an instant, IF they correct the triplane markings. -- lancer

Own somebory some of this Germans? Are they as finely detailed as K&C, ONTC and/or W.BRITAIN WW1 Germans?

I love the Death of the Red Baron. I think the plane is a stunning piece and a welcome addition to any collection. I think it is great as a stand alone or a center piece.

Yes, I own the WW1 Frontline Germans. No they are not as good as K&C, but nobody is.
Having said that, the German figures are excellent. I definetly would recommend them.
They go great together with the ONTC WW1 figures.

Check the WWI Scenes we did for Frontline on our Web Site. Maybe they will give those of you who are on the fence about the quality of their figures a clearer look at them. We will have a Battle Scene with their Storm Troopers in the near future. Alex

Great scene! I love them pulling the trench morter through what looks like part of a grave yard..I think I saw head stones...
