Got a good book for you WW1 mid-east students. Titled "Ordered To Die: A History of the Ottoman Army in the First World War" by Edward Erickson. Published by Greenwood Press in 2001. It has 261 pgs. and is illustrated with maps, charts, and some pictures. This is one of the few books on the subject in English and IMO the best available. The book covers all Turkish campaigns on all fronts and I consider it to be indispensable for this area of studies. -- lancer

Sounds like a winner. I'm going to try an order it immediately as I'm always on the lookout for interesting WW I material. Having lived in Izmir Turkey a couple of years I'm especially fascinated with this theatre of operations. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just checked this book out on Amazon.Would love to have it but not at $92.Another book by Erickson is Defeat in Detail about the Ottoman Army in the Balkans 1912-1913 looks very good too.$50 for this one. Will keep look out to see if prices come down in time. Would love to have both.
