The AZW is and always will be my first passion and Britains are catering rather well for that passion.

However, I do also enjoy (if enjoy is the right word) WW1 and I wondered if anyone out there is "in the know" as to whether or not Britains WW1 range will be expanding and/or have a change of direction perhaps to the later actions in the war i.e. The Somme/Passchendaele?

What with All Quiet On The Western Front being remade and the promise of some more WW1 movies on the way I thought we might see an increase in the WW1 toy soldier market, which currently (ONTC apart) is not that well represented.

Do you mean the "John Boy Walton" remake from a while back or are they making a third version now? Also, what other movies have you heard of that are in the pipeline? Do share some details as I'd look forward eagerly to any new WWI films. :)

There is a new big budget remake on the horizon of AQOTWF. It is currently in production and it is going to use the book as the start off point of the movie but it is said that this remake will do for WW1 what Saving Private Ryan did for WW2 (might not be a good thing to everyone I know) but I take that to mean it will be gritty, gruesome and I hope it will convey the utter desolation.

Peter Jackson did a short 12 minute movie called Crossing The Line which can be viewed on youtube, which was done to test the new redeye camera and he filmed this over two days in 2007. If you've not seen it yet then i urge you to view the trailer. Peter Jackson is a WW1 enthusiast and it is highly likely that at some point in the future this short movie will become a full length one.

I haven't seen the Canadian film Passchendaele, which came out last year I believe, but from the trailer this looks to be a love/war film when it should have only really been a war film if it was to bear the name of that hideous conflict.

Fantastic news on all counts! I will have to track down that short on youtube. I am waiting for Passchendaele to come out on DVD.....it is sitting in my Netflix queue as we speak. Thanks for the information.
