Hi guys!
Me Again!:)

Since I've been requested not to do polls, was wondering what you all think of having some Scottish sets going for the D-Day range?

My Granda was in the 8th Army Pioneer Corps, but sadly I never ever got to meet him, he died a few years before I was born:( And I think that may be what got me into history, it's like my way of keeping my Granda with me, since I never go to meet him, maybe he kinda lives on in what I collect, or what I am interested about in history?:)

Anyways back to reality! He landed at Arromanches a couple of days after D-Day, so I was thinking what about some sort of commemorative set to the men of the 8th Army Pioneer Corps, they were the guys that went in before anyone else, and cleared the way for tanks, vehicles, trucks, jeeps, and especially men, and so on!

During the war they lost

Story:

My gran always tells me of this, but when my Granda was fighting in WW2, apparently during a battle in late 1944, him and his men (he was a Sergeant)were surrounded, and he and some of his pals got away, but sadly the other men were captured, but he met up with them again later!:)

He picked up Tiberculosis or (T.B.) during some trench fighting and died in the late 1980's:mad:

That's my Granda who was husband to my gran who lives with me and buys me most of my soldiers!:eek::)

Thanks for reading!:)

I believe the UK pioneers are somewhat akin to the US combat engineers. I have seen pioneer or engineer troops for other conflicts but am not aware of many for WW2. The Sherman's with dozer blades and mine clearing tanks would be a start for a pioneer/ engineer unit. Now you just need the troops...............

To me Polls are fun, It gives a lot of insight to The Old guard (the Over 2000 posts (do they ever sleep:D)). And the Newbies like me on this forum. an insight Of what is in the minds of most if not all poster's in this forum. and it is entertaining and possibly quite a resource to what I personally should look at.:)
