WW2 Trivia (1 Viewer)

The USS Tang was sunk by one of it's own torpedoes that malfunction and ran in a circle. The Tang was also credited with sinking more Japanese tonnage than any other ship in WW2. Only 9 men of the 87 crew survived the incident, including the Tang's captain, Cmdr. Richard O'Kane. O'Kane when on to be awarded the MOH.

In addition to Tang, the Tulibee (SS-284) was lost to it's own torpedo circling back and striking it. Occurred in the Palau Islands AO on 3/26/44. -- Al
