I have just received the Treefrog Rivet and it mentions ONTC will be releasing WWI single figures till the end of the year and follow that course from what I understood. Now, in my humblest of opinions, the best I've seen from ONTC has been the combination of several original combat group poses with some scenic pieces, and also the WWI tanks. The individual figures are excellent but so are, again IMO, K&C's. It's the above different things being done by ONTC that attract me to them.
Bottom line: is the marketing strategy going to change? Are we going to lose the lovely original group scenes, replaced by head to head combat or single figures like K&C's? Is it easier to sell singles?
From what I've seen I love the tanks, the Poilus and the Pals and German infantry groups. I also love the poses, original and well imagined, not just someone charging, shooting standing or shooting kneeling (this applies to WWII too). And although I am not an expert at all I get the feeling that ONTC does go the extra mile to be historically acurate and realistic concerning soldier's gear, terrain, armour, etc... Keep it up.

Paulo: Your post has a ton of validity. As a WW1 afficianado who collects primarily Confederate Cavalry I can say if I were to embrace a second line of collecting it would be ONTC WW1. The line is splendid. It is comprehensive and it is well done. They have lots of competetition but assuredly them and the fine people at Michigan Toy are from all appearences 1st class toy soldier disrtibutors who actually like and apppreciate the hobby. They act as if they are not in it to make a buck but rather have a real passion for this line. Its amazing that these guys don't get more accoladas in open forum. They seem to do everything right and the quality appears to be excellent. If I spend say $82 on a mounted Confederate Cavalry K&C guidon bearer I can easily purchase a full set of Germans or Brits or Yanks or Poilu for the same price. That's value and thats quality. Good post Paulo.

Thanks, I just haven´t seen any of these live so that I could make a better comparison with K&C's offers, but the series looks really nice and well conceived.

Cheers,
Paulo

Very good guys. I have several ONWTC WW1 sets and I really like them all. They are great quality for a reasonable price and the color and accuracy is outstanding. I have not yet purchased any KC WW1 because I started with the very excellent Britains (first to market, and they do my favorite early war French) and followed with the ONWTC. Does anyone know if the KC figures are compatible with the others? That would be the key to my buying KC because I can't buy figures that won't mix within the genre. -- lancer

Yes, the early French uniforms really were a beauty, unfortunately they also provided bright targets...

Thanks for all of the great comments. We will be offering single figures in the future , 2 figure 'hand to hand' sets (which will arrive any day!) but we are still very much committed to larger sets.We have a 4 figure WW1 Marine vignette currently in production so we should have it in time for the Chicago Show. We are now working on a more sets and vehicles - more info on these later. We decided to add single figures to help the collectors fill out their troops. Thanks again for your interest - we are all collectors of original WW1 militaria and we strive to get the details right!

Dave: The two figures offered with the A7V Tank and the soon to be released captured Mark lV tank look terrific. Combined with the Spring Offensive troops and the recently released Stosstruppen set the 12 combined make up a solid stormtroop wave. Is there any way the A7V or captured Mark lV troopers will be available separately or does one have to purchase the tanks as well? Thanks

Jefman,
The figures will not be available by themselves but we will have plenty of other guys in the future. That is one of the main reasons that we are going to be releasing single figures. The brand new 'hand to hand' of WW1 Doughboys battling the Germans sets (TGW-011, TGW-012, TGW 013) just arrived yesterday and will be available in a weeks time.

Send me an e-mail at info@oldnwtc - we may have a few single figures from the sets - I have to take a look!

DAVE
