New here and this might be a repost but I found this video very enjoyable. WWI armor is something newer to me but is quickly becoming very interesting.

The German AV7 in particular is very interesting.

Looks pretty uncomfy to ride in! {sm2}

I have not seen this before. Pretty neat. Thanks for posting it. -- Al

WW1 tanks were about as "use unfriendly" as a military vehicle could be. The suspensions were minimal, based at best on the Holt Caterpillar tractor. THese would make a bulldozer really comfortable by comparison. The tanks were hot and noisy. I don't know about the German A7V but the British tanks were rather notorious for exhaust leaks that would lead their crews to carbon monoxide poisoning or just illness from the fumes. Power-to-weight ratios were pretty poor nitially also.

There was a good book by Bryan Perrett (I think) about tank combat in WW1. There were actually a couple of tank versus tank engagements on the Western Front in WW2.

I saw some WW I postcards of the wreckage of a German tank attack. The destroyed tanks were captured British models with German markings.

When I get home I'll try to remember to post links. A German painted and crewed British tank could make a good diorama.

Yup, British tanks got stuck in ditches or shell holes or had mechanical problems so the Germans would take them over and use some. It's been a while since I read that book on WW1 tanks, but I remember that at least one tank battle was between a German-captured Mk4 and one or two British tanks.

I believe that Old Northwest Trading Co. makes a British Mk.IV tank with German markings for just such a dio. Comes with German infantry, also. -- Al

Thanks for the info, very interesting. Nice pics and who would have thought the Germans would have gone from their armor ability in WWI to what they became in WWII.....amazing transformation.
