Do you know this company "Soldiers of the World"? I saw this set of British WWI Cavalry from Middle Eastern Theater and
after seeing your display cabinet photos thought this set might appeal to you to complement your figures from Sudan/Egypt Campaigns of late 19thc. They appear quite unique to me. Here is dealer info:

Hey Randy-

I can help you a bit with this one- from what I know, Soldiers of the World are glossy figures that Mike Russo sells there in Stroudsburg. He has quite an extensive collection of them. If you have a sharp eye- look at my "SHAEF's secret weapon" thread in the dio section- towards the end of that, you will see I have a glossy West Point horse roaming behind Ike, Patton and MacCauliffe. That is another toy soldier from that range.

The figures are pretty nice- a lot of niche figures fill the range but they have their normal ranges too like WW2, WW1, Naps, etc. They are mostly glossy- I haven't seen any mattes yet. I remember seeing a North Korean color guard set there the one day- four marching figs, Korean war era, one with the flag- he wanted $55 for the set. I decided to pass because they just seemed too niche.

As long as I have been doing business with Mike, I keep meaning to talk to him about these figures but just slips my mind. I want to think he is involved with the distribution of them but I may be reaching here.

But yeah, he has a rather extensive collection of those figures on sale there at the store.

Now that I'm collecting Britains glossy FIW, Pugio told me about the FIW figures from this company. They are more toy like than Britains but I like the subjects and I know Brad does have some glossies in his collection too.

I had heard that these "SOTW" figures were being made for the Stockade folks by what remained of the New Zealand company "Regal Productions", made of former employees of Imperial Productions (across town).

Local rumor has it that the Regal Productions folks have closed the shop and skipped town, so I wonder what if any future pieces will be available in this line of figures.

Maybe Stockyard has established a different producer for these, but last I heard, there were being casted and painted in NZ.

Cheers,
D

BINGO!! We got a winner- Drum is spot on- I do recall having this conversation with Mike over there at Stockade. From what I also recall, no, there aren't any new figures in the works. He has a pretty extensive inventory so he might be looking to dump them.........

Seems like Brad appreciates this thread.........:D

Sorry so late in responding but I'm up near the Canadian border today in Rouses Point where it's a little cold. I will have to check these out but I thought these were made by Tony Ciccarelli, a dealer at West Point.

Stay warm!!

That would seem to make sense-perhaps he was a sculptor for them- there aer a lot of WP themed one or two-offs in the range. As I mentioned, I have the WP Horse so perhaps this gentleman was involved.

From what I understood, these were primarily sculpted in the states and, possibly in the U.K. and then the sculpts were sent to Regal P. for casting and painting.

I have also heard that there was/is a close connection between the West Point shop and Regal P. (and, in turn, the Stockade shop as well).

So far, it seems as if our gathered info here is not in conflict.

My understanding was this range is owned by Tony Ciccarelli ,
I think they where only painted by Regal not cast their , I
had a chat to one of the guys at regal about 12 months ago
and it sounded to me like sets arrived and they assembled and
painted them ?.
If you asked them they would do them in matte ,they could also do
any of the armies in plastic range in metal .But as Drum said Regal is history
now ,so I dont know who makes these figures now.
