I ran across this German field phone photo the other day and think it would make a great set from JJD.

What do others think?

I agree without question. The three figures that stand out to me are the guy talking on the radio, the guy sitting across from him and the soldier in the back ground with his leg bent looking of into the distance through his binocs'. A lot that you could do with those! -- Larry

Put me done for a set Randy, just the type of different set John would likely to come up with, so it is possible we may see in the future. Thanks for finding. Cheers, Robin.

I'm all in on JJD going deeper into WW1. I don't care what he picks, as long as the warplanes keep coming.:wink2:^&cool -- Al

Yep - like it immensely. WWI has unlimited scope for interesting dios - the miracle of the Marne Taxis inspires creativity...and Verdun is incredible. Pozieres has a lot of scope for fighting as well as rest area dios - a field kitchen is a multi-faceted item...

The sets that are inspired by photos are great!

Looking forward to this one...

I would like someone to do WW1 artillery, field or heavy, Allied or German, but I would like to see it done with all the support systems in place. Same for field hospitals. The chaos surronding them would make for terrific possibilities for figures and equipment. -- Al

What I would like to see is something from the early 1914 cavalry actions between the BEF and the advancing Germans.

cheers

This would be excellent; and John has a good record of believable horses. Looking forward to his horse-drawn transport wagon.

A great idea that came to fruition by master model builder Bob Tavis was the depiction of a circa 1914 Belgian made Minerva armoured car battling some attacking German Uhlan Cavalry. The diorama called "Brave Little Belgium" takes an early Great War focus and comes to life as their seems to be lots of chatter of circa 1914 vehicles such as the Marne Taxi requests. This link takes you through the whole process that Bob masterfully portrays and gives inspiration to a rather undercovered segment of the conflict.http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/brave-little-belgium.15726/
