My family and I went to Philadelphia last weekend, and across the street from Betsy Ross' House is a flag and banner shop (imagine that!). While selling mostly modern flags and reproductions, it did have several vintage flags, a few of which were for sale.
Among the vintage flags that were not for sale was an 1876 Centennial Flag, and two WWI Chief of Staff Flags (all of which I coveted for my son's room - he loves flags, and his room is being done in a flag theme, with antique flags).
Among the flags for sale, however, was a WWII Commonwealth Victory Flag. It was hand printed, and had the flags of Great Britain and all of the Commonwealth Nations, to commemorate their efforts and sacrifices in defeating the Nazis and Imperial Japan. I immediately bought it, as I could not imagine a more important addition to my K&C museum, which is intended to honor all of the United States and Allied servicemen, especially those of the greatest generation. I am having it framed (to protect it) and will soon proudly hang it in a place of honor. The next time one of my British, Canadian or other Commonwealth friends visits the museum, it will be conspicuously displayed.
