Looking through the forum today and lots of talk about retired sets so just curious to know what is the oldest toy soldier set you own?? be it glossy, matt, plane, tank etc..

I myself do not own any really old sets as I changed over to First legion from K&C awhile back so I guess my oldest is the 2009 First legion Stalingrad Germans, ..wow..just realized that's already been 8 years ago!!

Re: your oldest set??

Selling my originals. 1997 Frontline Figures Highlanders. At least that is when I bought them. THey might be older.

Re: your oldest set??

My oldest set as far as ownership is my plastic britains from childhood. My oldest set as far as figure age are probably my madame tousaud britains.

Re: your oldest set??

Glossy K & C Seaforths from the 1980s.

Re: your oldest set??

Oldest sets I own that is complete is a set of Heinrichson flat Storm Troopers from the 1920s. I also have a set of glossy Britians Lancers from the 1930s as well as a bunch of figures going back to 1898 to 1900. Love the old figures and have a lot of different ones from all over Europe.

Re: your oldest set??

Not a set, but a single figure, my Vertunni Maria Theresa...

That one goes back to the 40's, I think.

I have the odd old hollowcast around, too, some Britains Life Guards and more recently, 6 Johillco British hussars that I picked up for a fixer-upper project.

Prost!

Re: your oldest set??

My oldest sets are hollow-cast classic Britains that were my father's when he was a kid. My sets include #144A , Royal Field Artillery in Service Dress (includes mounted RFA officer, limber and riders, gun, 6 horse team w/riders); set #145A, Royal Army Medical Corps Ambulance in Service Dress (includes red cross marked covered wagon, 2 medical orderlies, 4 horse team with riders); also some various Royal Army machine gunners and a machine-gun side-car attached to a motorcycle, all in service dress. These sets all date from the 1920's. -- Al

Re: your oldest set??

Some great sets that I haven't heard of, and certainly some "oldies but goodies" by collectors here, thanks for sharing.

Re: your oldest set??

I've got some old molds, too, a couple of original bronze Schneider molds. I've got the cowboy on a bucking horse, the buffalo, the running German soldier wearing the Pickelhaube, and the running doughboy, wearing the campaign hat. The rest of my Schneider molds are later reproductions, mostly from Höhmann in Kassel and a couple by Castings in Washington state.

Prost!

Re: your oldest set??

I don't have any sets, but I think my oldest pieces are from William Britain from 1903, Railway Station Master and a porter.

Here are some of my "oldies"
I don't know which are the oldest
