Hello Everyone,

Hope all is well! I was going through some of my boxed up figures today, and I was wondering what my dream set of figures would be. After much consideration, I think I would go with this set...Napoleon's Etat Major by Lucotte. I saw this set come up on Ebay.fr but I believe it went for 3,000 Euros...bit steep for this academic...

So, what is your dream set/figure?

I think my dream set up would be if K&C did an 8th Airforce B17 in the superb limited edition quality (see through canopy, turrets, etc.), with flight crew, mechanics & other groundcrew, and related vehicles like Fuel Trucks, Ambulances & fire vehicles, on an airfield diorama.

If I could have a dream set, I think it would be something in the Rev. War. The poses would have to number in the hundreds, and be Conte detailed. There would have to be calvary, as well as civilian and houses and Barn. The key charicter figs such as Washington, and Cornwallis would be in it. The poses would of course, all have to be different. There would be at least 600 hundred British in open field formations, marching on at least 200 American regs, with 200 militia mixed in. There would be at least ten Brit cannons and maybe six American ones. At least 20 tall full trees, shrubs fences, you get the picture. That would be my dream set.Mike:)

A Complete Battery of French Artillery - different poses and action on firing those great guns.............OUI OUI OUI :D :D

As I,m equally divided as to wether metal or plastic is my favorite, I would have to go with an old style (soft plastic) Conte playset of either KheSanh or the First World War. It would have to have the terrain pieces done the way Conte did with his origional sets.
I know there are not many plastic guys on this board but Conte really set the bar with his first playsets.

British/Commonwealth - maybe Guards, Canadian or Polish - Armoured Division Firefly, Shermans, Cromwells, and recon including British M3s with Bren guns and infantry. 30 Corps???? I have seen Louis collection and it is fab - updates soon please for all of us.

I second the request Louis.....The Lt.

Hey Lt - If I won the lottery I would also love lots of nice red coats with eyecatching quickfiring rifles (and bayonets), gatling or maxim guns and cannon so that we could go on missionary work in foreign lands. Then, to quote Michael Caine and Sean Connery in the 'Man Who Would be King' - kill your enemies like civilised men......Plus ca change:eek: They don't half line up smart Sir!

Pity there are no 'diplomatic corps' soldiers.......a bowler doesn't quite cut the same dash as a pith helmet....

I was watching that movie last night. I love Kipling, and Danny Dravot is one of his greatest creations.

For me it would be a set of about thirty of the Bradford Pals going over the top on 1st July 1916.Some wounded, some in action with officer urging them on.True bravery in the face of almost certain death or injury.

There’s so many but Britains Mammoth Circus Display set 1539 is right up there(strictly speaking not really a toy soldier set though).

I would have to say the Carthiginian War Elephant by St. Pete I could just imagine slapping that monstrosity into the middle of my toy soldier collection and looking at the sheer panic in all my figures faces- tanks and SF troopers included.

I have always had a fondness for WS15- the Wittman Tiger as well.

Otherwise- I wish Andy had released a camel riding SF figure with his Afghanistan/Iraq line- that would have been a hoot!! Still wanted that Bradley or Abrams as well.

I always thought some historical vignettes would have been neat too- MacArthur accepting the Japanese surrender, Washington with Cornwallis, even ole Ben Franklin flying a kite.

My dream actually became a reality recently as I have been after a complete Marx Miniature ACW set for close to ten years. They were made in the 1960's and came with hard plastic painted copies of the 54mm Marx ACW figures (in my opinion, the Marx Union and Confederate 54mm plastic ACW figures are still THE best plastic ACW figures ever done), plus cannons, caissons and battlefield accessories and a terrain mat to set the figures up on. I never got one as a kid and always wanted one.

I have about six sets, all of which are incomplete to various degrees and finally came into a complete, boxed set with the playmat through a dealer friend of mine who had one as part of a large collection.

He presented it to me at Valley Forge and I am thrilled to finally have it, both a dream and a reality in one...............

Rob: One of my favorite sets is the 20th anniversary issue by Frontline of the Lancaster Fusilers on July 19, 1916 going over the top in Somme battle. The set has a diorama base and placque and 8 nicely made figures. (one figure laying down shot). Leadmen

Funny you should mention that as I just saw that set this evening for the first time (online of course). It looks remarkable doesn't it?? That set really puts me in a quandry of where to go with WW1- I like Britains, have a couple of the St. Pete WW1 germans, am interested in KC's future releases as well as ONWTSC armor, and now Frontline comes out with these really cool sets!! I just don't know what to do!! I guess it comes down to what battle/ battles I am looking to work with and that will determine who I get on the Allies side- British, French or American. The Germans are easy enough.

Sorry to get off track.... but yeah, that is a really neat set.

I'd like to see a Falklands set, with Lt. Colonel H. Jones V.C. leadin 2 Para in the attack on the defensive positions South of Darwin.

OH MAN - YOU ARE SO LUCKY

I loved my Sears (Marx) Civil War Set - I also had the American Revolution - those were great and I still remember looking through the Sears Catalog picking out what I wanted for Christmas. :)

Many Hours were in the dirt with the Blue and Grey - great stuff !!

And yes the fate that has happen to a many Plastic Toy Soldiers - my MOM gave away all of them to a Church thing - while I was at Florida State.

Crushed..........:(

Gotta love the way Moms threw out all of our stuff while we were away at college or in the case of my father, in the military. His mother threw out all of his comic books, you know, first edition Superman, Batman, etc, worth a small fortune today...................
