These have come into my possession via the estate of an elderly neighbour. Would anyone have an idea on how much these are worth? As can be seen they have been well played with!

Thanks.

Jeff

You have scored quite the catch there Jeff, There are some valuable pieces in that collection.

You probably have upwards of $1500 worth of stuff there.

Scott,

How much?!!!{eek3}.......these are fairly tatty in places.

You have a least 3 very rare pieces in that lot. I can break it all down for you if you want but will take me a couple of days.

Top left the yellow eagle (made by Johillco) The large elephant with keeper, howdah and kids and the large giraffe.

The eagle I have a call out to as I know it is hard to find just not sure of the value. The elephant probably about $250 and the giraffe upto $500.

On the small elephant the howdah is worth upto $200 and the kids are worth about $80 each and so is the keeper. The rest of the zoo animals we are looking at $15-$35 each. The large hippo, rhino and crocodile probably $50-$75 per piece.

Thanks Scott.

If you wouldn't mind trying to identify a few more before Thursday as I'm off for a while, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you. :smile2:

I'm off to bed now and try to get to sleep! ^&grin

For the farm the larger animals upto $8 smaller ones $2-$5. The huntsman $35-$45 and the dog $15 - $25 each

The small farm wagon I would guess about $50, the other wagon isn't Britains so I would guess perhaps the same.

These are all approximate and more of a replacement cost than anything as it all depends as you know, what people are willing to pay.

Hope that helps.

Scott thank you, this has been a real eye opener. I thought they were just about worth saving from the dustbin as they had a nominal value.

Thanks again

Jeff

No problems Jeff, any more questions please feel free to ask. I also forgot to mention that there are some zoo animals that are not Britains.

So what are you planning on doing with them ?

Scott,

Re-pack them with a bit more care to start with! ^&grin There was also a selection of Dinky planes with boxes and a Hornby O Gauge Loco so I might take them to an Auction House which specialises in old toys and such. Fortunately they’re just a few miles away.

Thanks for the help.

Jeff

No problem Jeff and good luck with the sale, I would be interested to see what they make if you do sell.

Great selection of animals. The buffalo and Giraffes are hard to find and rare. You have a nice selection. J

Oh, I'll say that even the most banged-up, chipped, playworn piece is always worth saving from the dustbin, even if only to be recycled in a new batch of castings :D

Prost!

Really interesting collection you got there Jeff and excellent breakdown by BF. I always enjoy seeing old Britains farm sets. I have considered buying some for my daughter as she gets another year or two older.

Excellent thread!!
