A new release. No details yet:

There was a R2 release in France back in 2006 (R2) that featured the full aspect ratio. The audio track in english was in mono.
It has been re-released in 2008 with a english dolby 5.1 track. FYI.

Right now i think the french release is your best option with a nice anamorphic transfer. I hope to have more details on the UK release soon.

I'd like to have the english subs..being italian i don't understand well english when spoken and i prefer the subs just to avoid to rewind the scene i've just watched trying to understand some strange (for me) phrase.I hope there'll be the subtitles in this new version.

I agree on that; it would make viewing more relaxing. The french version definitely hasn't got them but the UK version probably will.

Not to sound snobbish, but we need a Blu Ray release. It made such a difference with ZULU.

I'm sure that will come someday, but ZD is kind of a unknown film compared to Zulu. I am happily surprised it got the attention it did in dvd-land. The fact that the french have it rereleased after two years and another one comes to the UK proves there must be a market for it.
But yes, Blu ray would be cool.

Well, if I have Breaker Morant on BRD, Then I demand Zulu Dawn on BRD! I have the need to hear that ridiculous Rish accent from Burt's Durnford!
"Yes well, difficulty never dettered a Zulu Commander!"

Speaking of ZD, does anyone know of a long version that was released overseas but never made it to the U.S. market? The U.S. apparantly got a shorter version. This is just a rumor I have heard for years but have never been able to confirm. Incidently, I really liked ZD except for those bleeping Martini carbines all the British infantry carried. It still drives me nuts. -- lancer

I think that is partially correct. The IMDB gives three film versions: UK:115 min | USA:98 min | USA:113 min, probably released in that order. It seems the 2005 US dvd is the 113 minute version. I will see if I can find anything further on the releases.

Can anyone provide a source for a US DVD copy of Zulu Dawn. I am unable to locate anything.

Thanks for the response and info. I know the only version I have seen is the 98 min. version. -- lancer
