What Toy Soldier items Have You Acquired in The Last 2 Weeks ? (2 Viewers)

Equally crude pics forthcoming. Hope you all enjoy the Persian chariot. Btw, would anyone like to see our old T Atkins Celtic and Assyrian chariots? When we open 2 more for Troy next year we will have 11 Jenkins chariots, a K&C Pharaoh chariot and those 3. Merry post Holidays

Well, our pics were rough and these chariots never made a big impact but it sure is a beautiful piece. We have many Persians and are glad to add this masterpiece. We will be posting our Battle of Kadesh with chariots: 7 JJD & an old K&C. Plus infantry, etc.
We will put our Lycians with the Hittites but we will save our Trojan War Trojan inf and chariots for next X-Mas (may it be better.)
It will be 3 or more phases of the battle together (Kadesh will be visible, there will be a melee and forces which came up earlier will be coming now, etc.). We will try to get less glare and shadows.
Just waiting for Julie's shipment and some time to take a crude pic or ten.
Thanks to Julie & George and everyone else who helped us complete this scene which I have over-hyped. At least you can expect a lot of chariots.
BlahblahPaddy,
Best Wishes.

This was the X-Mas haul with an extra chariot for January.
We really enjoyed how well JJD and others represented this fascinating period of Ancient History. Thanks to Julie and also George and Mike Hall for the haul.
Best Wishes, Happy Collecting,
So it is written, so it shall be done.

K&C's Sharpe's 95th Rifles and the last three French infantryman I was missing arrived in the post today.

I should be getting another parcel from K&C Hong Kong on Monday.

What ???? Even more troops ?

Where will they all go, it's look a bit crowded already !!!

:)

Anybody impressed by JJD's Kadesh despite our rough pics? We hope so. It looks super in the metal-flesh. We would like to see others' Kadesh scenes since "peaceful" Egypt is far more popular (we have plenty of civilians & structures from K&C & it's truly lovely).
Also note the mini-Schnauzer and Eagor, my favorite stufftie when I was kid. He even went to Rome. Sorry about the clutter, we hope to post clearer pics one day.
Best Wishes and Keep this thread alive please.

I'd strip and repaint them, John. It's not like there is any particular value in Tradition's factory paint job. You can really dress them up with your style. I would finish them as gloss, too, but either way, you'll make them much better.

Prost!
Brad
Me too. If these are factory painted I'm surprised they passed quality control. Tradition faces and laces can be variable quality. Sometimes neat and quite realistic other times wonky and pretty ugly eg Ruby red oversized lips and glowing red cheeks like some horrible plastic dolly.

No lapse in quality control. They're in Tradition's Toy Soldier style, so gloss finish but very simple detail. Tradition also has a Model Soldier catalog; those figures are based on the old Stadden custom figures, and they have a little more detail in the casting. But they're still painted to a simpler finish. But either way, if you paint them yourself, with in kit form or stripping and repainting them, you can give them a little more detailing in the finish.

So, it all depends on which part of the catalog the figures come from.

Prost!

Hi Brad I was only referring to the toy soldier glossies not the models. They really do vary in quality even at this level of finish. Some examples I have are obviously done by trained artists and are beautifully finished. I'll post a few pix in the Tradition section this week.

Julie does better photos of the individual chariots. Still, we are glad to have made a parade of 10 chariots this year. Just 3 from old glossy times and 2 for Troy to go.
We highly recommend each and every chariot we have,
Pats

These arrived in the post today. Some First World War Australians, Second World War Japanese, Eighth Army, and D-Day are included.
