Astros have lost 6 games in a row...
blown huge leads in several of those games...
Hunter...Javier and Hader are on IL...2 starting pitchers and their closer...
right now...I'm not real enthusiastic about watching them...flipping channels...
still watching some...but reruns of The Golden Girls or reruns of Young Sheldon seem more interesting...
 
RIP Phil Garner.

Before he was a great manager he was also a great infielder who won a World Series in 1979 with the Pirates.

He also had a great Pittsburgh related nickname, “Scrap Iron”.

He died of pancreatic cancer. It’s a very hard cancer to beat. My former boss died of this type of cancer in his 50s.

Maybe they will turn things around by stealing signs again. That seemed to work. Just kidding. Hopefully the thread isn't closed.

Or they'll go out and buy one, sign him to a 300 million dollar contract and spread it out over 3,000 years.

MLB has a 26 man roster limit, you can only have 13 pitchers; the Dodgers have Ohtani, who's a pitcher and a DH, but a DH "first", so he does not count as a pitcher, so they actually have 14 pitchers on their roster.

So cool to see a struggling franchise like the Dodgers being able to work the rules in their favor, good for them, they really need a break, that franchise lives a hardscrabble existence and needs every break they can get, fair is fair.

With all the crying about the money the Dodgers have spent, their farm system has brought along some very good players. Also nice to see Max Muncy return to form. His injury limited him for a couple of years. He had a huge HR in game seven of the WS. Injuries are a killer, though. And the Dodgers are not deep in the bullpen. Their Achilles heel last year.

More seriously, they lost Nimmo and Alonso, two of the mainstays of the team and they have a lot of transitional players while players on the farm are developing. There aren’t a lot of great players there.

Stearns, the GM, is not an Alonso fan and didn’t see paying him a lot of money for several years. Alonso is off to a very slow start so maybe he was right.

Nimmo is harder to figure out. There were rumors that he was traded because he and Lindor had political differences. Yes, you read that right. Nimmo is from what I heard a Trump supporter and Lindor more liberal. If that is true, that’s just crazy. People need to get along with each other. I was not happy because I love Nimmo, always have. Don’t care about politics, just results. I would have traded Lindor because they traded McNeil since Lindor and McNeil never got along.

On top of that, Soto is a private person and doesn’t mix well with his teammates so it’s not exactly a great situation.

My Phillies have the worst record in baseball. Didn't know if they would be the best but would not believe the would be at the bottom of the barrel.

Loved him as a kid, I played second base at that time of little league and he was one of my idols. That 79 Pirates team will be forever one of the greatest. I recently read Dave Parker's Auto Biog, I had posted before that it was one of the best baseball books I have read. Garner was featured many times with reflections from Parker. They had a very unique relationship, very good one.

Not an Orioles fan, but found this amusing, against the Red Sox on Friday night, they had to have a PSA saying they ran out of Home Run Pyro b/c the Orioles hit too many home runs off of Boston Red Sox too early in the game, you just can't make up stuff like this.
