I just got Nine WW1 fighting Germans the other day and think there great.The yellow helmets stood out straight away for me but the wife who I call the fun police said they look to bright.This is strange as she is starting to notice things about my toy soldier collection and making little comments that aren't that strange.Does anyone know were they that yellow or more of a green colour.She made a comment about the helmets being black as I am sure she watch Hogens hereos as a kid.I know they covered them for combat but is the colour that yellow.

I just picked up the new Armor Car - the vehicle and figure are wonderful. I have it in a display with my WW1 Marching Germans & Officers.

Still need to get the action figures.

I just watched a doc on WWI tonight and even though it was in black and white, the Germans in 1914 had a huge contrast in their gray uniforms and their helmets. You could tell from the light color in the film the helmets had to be a tan, yellow or white in the old film.

I have done some researce and have found out that Andy is right and the helments were yellow in colour.I used the treefrog history site to find out and was very pleased that what a great tool it is for researce .

French releases (WWI) will be later...perhaps even into 2009. We're working on some other WWI ideas at the moment.***

Just received my first batch of WWI Germans the other day and I can't wait to see what else Andy does in this line. I was reluctant to start new line but the figures are just too good to pass up. I'm really excited about the future for this range! Hope we get some French figures soon as well as artillery for both sides.

Completely in agreement, Saber. Some French infantry in that early-war uniform of kepi, dark-blue overcoat, and red baggy trousers would really be superb. That outfit surely has to rank as one of the most distinctive (and joyfully impractical!) service uniforms of the past century.

That would be . I hope K&C sticks with the early part of the war for a while before moving on to the later stages as I think that period really offers some great posibilities where the uniforms are concerned, especially the colonial troops. I think the KOSB troops will be my next WWI purchase.

Absolutely! Mid to late war releases would be equally great in due time, but for now there's definitely no shortage of potential in the early war period.

Curiously, as recently as a year or so ago, before this range was released, like a lot of people, my quintessential image of World War One was the stereotypical one of trench warfare, troops with steel helmets, gas masks, etc. - the early war battles wouldn't have grabbed my attention in anyway close to the same extent. However, having seen the figures and started to collect them, I've become hugely interested in this initial stage of the conflict, and believe it still has even more to offer in Dispatches to come!

Definitely go for the KOSB's if you're contemplating them, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. The figures are extremely evocative of the regular riflemen of the BEF stubbornly trying to hold their ground in Belgium and Northern France during the late summer of 1914, and provide perfectly matched opposition to the advancing German infantry sets.

I beleive I will get those KOSB's. They look quite nice in pics but always good to hear that impression confirmed by a first hand look. Is the British General French figure good? I like personality figures but some of the bino to the face poses are not my favorite.

Afraid I can't comment directly on the General French figure as I don't have it, but in general, the KOSB releases to date are extremely well done, so it's a definite recommendation from me!

With regards to personality figures, they can be very nice as stand-alone pieces, but personally I find it somewhat difficult to include them in dioramas or displayed with ordinary fighting poses, as I always feel they look a little bit out of place.

With the KOSBs for example, a scene on its own featuring General French accompanied by a few aides, sentries/bodyguards would look very well. However I always think that having a very high-ranking, "named" figure like that featured (as in some of the K&C promotional material for this series) as being actually alongside troops who are very clearly engaged in heavy combat looks slightly unrealistic. Even the most determined general officers would surely not be that close to the business end of fighting. Anyone else any opinions on this??

Yeah, I agree.

I have to say, I've managed to resist collecting WWI so far - but it hasn't been easy, and if K&C release some figures for the WWI middle-east conflict - then I might as well give in.

Spot on about upper echelons being that close to the front line while the fighting is taking place especially close quarters fighting. I'm sure there were exceptions to this, Hermann Balck 11 panzer WWII for example, on all sides but casually peering through the binos at the action 100-200 feet away well I don't know. Still, if the figure looks good I may get it anyway. I can always put him looking out acroos an open field at the german armoured car trying to figure out what model it is.

Absolutely; seeing the Dardanelles, Mesopotamia etc. campaigns getting the K&C treatment is certainly something to look forward to. You know your resolve will break sooner or later, Harry!!

Seriously though, the more you contemplate possible future releases for this series the more you realise just how many different potential theatres/periods/nationalities the Great War has to offer. There's a lot more unexplored avenues to the conflict than just the mud and barbed wire of the Western Front (although I'm definitely looking forward to the eventual covering of this area!). I really do think this is a range that if steadily worked on could end up being as diverse as the World War Two or Napoleonics series - at any rateit's a very welcome addition to the K&C range.

I'm watching Hew Strachan's "The First World War" on Youtube at the moment - very entertaining and interesting series, but also hugely useful for filling gaps in the knowledge and providing a basic introduction to lesser known aspects of the war like Gallipoli, the Eastern Front etc. . I'll have to confess that prior to starting to collect this range I knew next to nothing about theatres such as this.

Anyway, two thumbs up from me on this range for any First World War collectors (or potential collectors) out there!!
