Hi folks, I'm new to the amazing (and to this forum too) world of collecting toy soldiers. At the moment I only collect Napoleonic figures by King and Country. Their are great !

Welcome on board to the Forum. (Benvinguda! /bienvenida). I have often struggled with the miniatures of Fernando and Carlos Andrea but my painting skills are diminishing, not improving. King & Country are very collectible and there are quite a few people on the forum who can help you find any sets that you are missing.

Welcome to the forum Sharpe

I haven't yet weakened for Napoleonics.....

The ww2 is enough so far...:D

Good man Sharpe keep up the good work and collect Napoleonic soldiers. Though I do have say you are on the wrong side of the war. Come on over to the side that stands for liberty. Viva la Emperor!

Old Guard

Now don't be trying to steal my troops "OLD GUARD".........:)

WELLINGTON

Now there Wellington let us look at this logically. Which army promoted more from within the ranks? Which commander Napoleon or Wellington said he hated promoting enlisted men into officers? One hint it was not the guy who said that in every privates knapsack there was a Marshals Baton hiding. (I might have gotten that quote a little wrong but you get the idea).

I think it is perfectly clear that Sharpe, a man who rose through the ranks on his merit should have come over to the side that would really appreciate him. After all how many Marshals were aristocrats vs. how many were low born? Lastly I have to say, with no offense intended towards our Spanish members but during the Napoleonic wars would you rather be allied with the Spanish or the Poles.

So Sharpe when you read this come over to the right side. The Emperor is merciful and there is always room in the Old Guard for men of your accomplishment.

Viva la Emperor
Old Guard

Well well well Its nice to hear Old Trousers again!

But from one trooper who is a really big fan of the real Mr Sharpe I will say he would never think of serving the ogre.

So I say to Mr Sharpe, Fix Swords and remember Badajoz!

Dave

I am insulted Old Trousers indeed. While I agree that the real Sharpe was too brainwashed to see that enlightment lay with the Emperor I can’t help notice that you have not answered the questions I posted above. Which army did a better job of recognizing merit more then social class? I will not hold my breath while you try to defend the British Army. Can anyone say buying ones rank vs. the how one got into the Old Guard?

And it seems to me that all of Europe feared the Grumblers when they took the field.

Old Guard

Although my forum name is WELLINGTON and the British army holds a soft spot in my heart, I do have to say that it was disappointing for me to hear that Wellington was often quoated as saying his army was the scourge of the earth full of criminals and thieves!!!! I am also aware that Napoleon loved the men of his army and viewed them as his own family and not dirt...for this Napoleon is held in high regard in my books and it also may explain his success on the battlefield. I do believe that General Lee was a similar man in his ethics.

WELLINGTON

Have collected WWII, now collect Napoleonics, mainly other manufacturers than K&C although I have a small Waterloo diorama made exclusively of wonderful K&C and 2 Miniwelt figures ( Black Watch and French Line Infantry ).

I have a modest collection of WW II Diecast warbirds and expect to add some NAPs soon.

Warbirds, me too. Corgis and Geminis, but now stopped collecting them. Only toy soldiers ate the moment:p

What i do love about the Naps is the glorious colours of both sides, whether its the good old British Redcoats or the Blue of Napoleons troops they all look so good.If i had more money i'd be in there like a flash.

I guess I should have been more specific. The Warbirds are Corgi, Franklin Mint and Dragon Wings, mostly 1/72 with some 1/48 and a few 1/32.
I haven't yet decided on how to start the NAPs but I am most taken with the First Legion proposed cavalry. I will likely wait to see how it comes out before turning to Britains and K&C. All as budget allows of course.;)

Naps for me but I do like the Arnhem figs.I would say thats all the WWII for me.
Cheers
Dave

How many of the NAPOLEONIC ONLY Collectors - collect just K&C or other brands today ??

I collect Napoleonics only. K&C is the mainstay (about 75%) but I also have Russian figures (Tinbay, Miniwelt, Figurine Emporium), Patriot, First Legion and Del Prado. I use buildings and landscape items from Formtech, K&C, and some British suppliers. If Britains figures were a little bigger I'd collect them too.
