Well fellow KC fans-

I have been on this forum now for a little over a year and it has been a fun and colorful ride- much thanks to George for pointing it out to me.

I guess, given that it is Memorial day weekend, I have reflected and can vividly remember last year's Memorial day purchases- at Stockade Minatures- I got my first two AWI figures (which I have subsequently sold as they didn't "Fit":D)

So, Memorial day sort of represents the close of the toy soldier fiscal year 2007 :D and what a difference the year has made. Here is what I have done:

Started the AWI and AE collections- got caught up with the snazzy uniforms of the Brits and Colonials and now own 16 of those figures- a year ago- Zero

Egypt- went to the Fields museum in Chicago in August and just fell back into childhood looking at their Egytians- I now have about 10 of those sets- a Year ago- Zero.

Dropped the Eastern Front and Iwo lines from any further consideration. I will get the flag raising set when it retires- too iconic a piece to pass up.

Purchased my first EA (EA-021) figure and my first Market Garden figure. I really think those MG figures might be the very best WW2 figures he has done since the first batch of Fallschirmjagers. Found myself last night gazingly intently on those MK figures brochures last night- "this guy could work here- man, these guys would look great blasting Jerry- no, this set is rubbish- won't work :D"

Of course, grabbed some new WW2 figures- got the British tank and several German pieces- Panther, 88 Track carrier, Puma, flakpanzer, Hummel and Hetzer. Scored my first Bulge infantry sets from George- got the BBA01 and BBA02 sets- HIGHLY recommended- very robust figures and great poses- and still quite affordable.

A big old Roman War Galley docked onto my toy soldier table and is in ramming distance of everything on the table.

Bought some great pieces from new companies (for me)- HB's Jagdpanther and a John Jenkins set. Also got the Collector's Showcase OIF sets. Got some new Russian figures as well.

Completed my first "line" with buying the T62 and SF 06 and SF02 and SF04 sets.

Funny thinking on this as I did this with 10 months of buying time as the wife laid down the procurement freeze for 2 months there in the fall.

Looking ahead:

Well, I think everyone knows by now, I am an East of India fan as well and am very very much looking forward to their Romans. I am also playing with fire and starting to let the KC Barbarians grow on me- beautiful sets, just couldn't justify getting them- TILL NOW!! :D Will have to get the mounted Caesar as well- just cause it's CAESAR!! I am in a hold position on the WW1 sets- when some of the grunt German's start retiring, I will probably make my move.

I am also looking very hard at the Figarti OIF figures and some more FOV AFVs. Thanks to Marco55 I have some BEAUTIFUL Andreas miniatures sets to get painted this year. Very much looking forward to that. I am also very excited about the Blackhawk line for Zama- SCIPIO!!

Sorry Ron and Well- no Naps in the future

Even the priorities have changed- WW2 was top dog for the past 10 years- not so anymore, dropped to number 4 behind Rome, AE and AWI. I am just like a kid in the candystore with Rome- just reading everything I can on them.

Alright, that is TSFY 07 report- feel free to comment, love to hear from you.

Wow Chris, that is a very comprehesive report. Interesting to note your changes over the year. Now if we could just shake loose some of those Romans from you missing Co-Consul.:D I don't think they will fit with the K&C Barbarians though, do you?

Actually from what I've read the German barbarians were quite larger than the Romans.

Yeah- we CPA's are absolute masters at writing tomes of information with saying very little of substance :D:D

There is no doubt in my mind that the KC Barbarians will be larger than the EoI Romans. I feel very confident I can pull it off though. I measured the basement over the weekend and have cordoned off a 24 sq ft section for Alesia- granted Germanic "barbarians" may not be historically accurate as Vercingetorix's troops but they just look so doggone good- why pass on em??

Anyway, there will be Gauls assaulting the Alesia camp and the Romans will all be inside- so the 54mm EoI figures will be matched up with themselves. Then, the KC figures and Conte figures will be on the outside assaulting the fort. Anyway, I think I can pull it off.

Sounds interesting, can't wait to see it. Hold the phone, I can't wait til you have the Romans to do it (which means I will too).:D;)

Good point about CPAs BTW, at least the ones I deal with.;):D
