K&C UK Generous offer?? (1 Viewer)

I never really understood the 4 O'Clock TEA thing ??

Neither do most of us Ron!.Most people i know are working at 4 O'clock and never stop at that time,i'm guessing maybe it was a throwback to Colonial times for the upper classes.

Here in the US we have our own afternoon customs......why right now I'm

enjoying my afternoon Snapple HIGH Peach Tea.:D

Imagin thinking we don't know about high & low tea.

Snapple at $2 a bottle is high:D

Shoprite brand at .59 is low.:D

Ron!!

Share some of the prices you experienced on your recent trip!

I bet they will knock our socks off!

About 15 years ago I took the fam to lunch there at a quiet sidewalk bistro

after carefully reading the bill-o-fare (no inexperienced traveler am I):p

My error you ask.....when the waiter took our order and I asked for 3 cokes

along with our lunch he asked small, medium, or grande!

Me being a big spender (yeah right) and having noticed the small was $1 on

the posted menu said "Why 3 Grande":D

When the bill came the 3 grandes (nice sized served with ice) came to $120.

Yes I paid $145 for lunch $25 for three grilled cheese sandwhiches and a

staggering $120 for 3 cokes. At that time Coca-Cola was trading at $40 a

share!

I'd love to hear how you made out!

Almost the same thing happen to Mrs. Phillips and myself.

FIRST DAY IN PARIS - we had landed that morning and made it to the Le Meridien (KMW paying - not me) and checked in.

So we decided lets go to the Arch de Triomphe and see it - we did - it was great ! Then we start walking down the Avenue des Champs-Elysees - we start passing by outdoor cafes - right and left - so we stop at a real nice one.

We order 2 coffees, 1 perrier and 1 chocolate croissant .... bill comes $45.00 USD

Lets just say - no more Cafes on the Champs for Mrs. Phillips !

Oh - a Coke in a cafe in Paris is 4 EUROS - that is $6.40 USD.

Ronnn!!

How do you like that! Those Frenchies:D they are really something!

No question it is a beautiful city, and everyone should visit if they have the

opportunity! However you need to be a little careful! Did you find there was

an unusual difference in the exchange rates? The hotels usually really sting

you, I found the private booths located in the various shopping districts paid

quite a bit more......you kind of felt like you were in Las Vegas every

time you exchanged money!

And I got the best rate with my credit card when I got home.

All in all its a great city, and you have a wonderful time!:)

And that is why I stay away from the big cities like Paris, London, Rome etc when travelling been to each a few times and that's enough for 1 lifetime:D. Much prefer to get out in the country where the people are friendlier and the prices more reasonable;).

Just think, that's almost a whole tank of gas there Njja:eek:!

Wow, well life is just a long list of experiences tied together in your mind.

So as long as its not the norm, you just take them one at a time and move

on.

I've learned a lot in my travels, and I probably wouldn't change any of my

experiences. Even the $120 Cokes, have provided me quite a few laughs

over the years.:D

Njja - I agree - but, Saber has a point - the country side is where he real adventures can be found, I believe that ! ;)

But, you should experience the big sights first - IMHO. :D

Ronnnn:

You Sir are almost bigger then life! You were made for cities like Paris!

What on earth would you do in the small towns in the suburbs!:D

I must say, you really looked like you enjoyed yourself in Paris, you had a

big smile in every picture......even when you had to much wine the night

before.

Even though we have yet to meet, I can tell you enjoy life, and know how

to have a Good Time!

I am a LOBBYIST - fun is my middle name :p

Yes - I do believe in having a good time - at all times - you never know when it might end.

Jimmy Buffet said it the best in "Changes in Attitudes - Changes Latitudes"

.... If it suddenly end tomorrow - I could somehow adjust to the fall - good times and riches and son of B*****S - I have seen more than I can recall ... :D

WORDS TO LIVE BY !

I agree!

Just in case you go around once, make it memorable!

"Fat, Drunk, and Stupid, is no way to go through life Son"
-Dean Vernon Wormer

"Oh Yeah? Well its a hell of a lot better then what ever

is in second place" -Millard Filmore:D

But we all know you're a different kind of general now. One with 7 stars, t crowns, 4 pips and a whole load of scrambled egg running off your shoulders. :p

Maybe Shannon should start issuing Naval promotions now that the Army options appear to have run out.;)
