K&C should recertify the site.

I have sent Andy and Tammi an email to alert them about the problem, in case they weren't aware.

Michael:

Yes thats it......what exactly is recertifing the site? I wonder who exactly

certifies a site anyway?

Brad, Louis, any of our legal experts familiar with this?

I just received an email from Tammi. They're looking into it. K & C is Verisign secured meaning that Verisign, a respected company in this field, has checked out the website and deemed it secure and that any personal information you give them is safe. Personal information is any information about a person, such as name, address, birthdate, SS number, etc. There are other companies that do this.

Brad, well thats good at least if they are aware they can take what ever steps are necessary to get it back up and running.

I usually check in once or twice a week, and was suprised when I had this problem the next time I tried to log on.

Lets hope its back up and running before much longer!

I think it might be the end of the World! Who are these socalled verifyers? Who is in charge of domain names for that matter? Why does anyone have to pay for that stuff? So many questions:confused::confused::confused:

I don't think there's any relation or connection between your first and second questions. You have to pay for this stuff like you have to for anything: because you need it. From what I understand, Verisign has a good reputation and many, if not most, sites that are collecting personal information (PI) use them. For example, paypal is Verisign secured. I believe they're the market leader. They make sure that you're PI is protected via encryption, etc. and that your personal information is otherwise secure. Under current law, if someone's PI is stolen, the owner of the site can face penalties.

When the Figarti Collectors Club started, I mentioned this to Rick as it didn't appeared to be secure as it didn't have the little lock that you see when a site is secure. He insisted information that people gave was secure and got mad when I kept insisting that it wasn't. He even mentioned it to me when he saw me in Chicago. Well, I just checked the site and it still isn't secure. As long as it's not Verisign verified or verified by some other company, I won't pass my PI through the internet.

Lets hope everything is ok, and up and running shortly!

K & C has advised me that the security certificate has now been updated so everything is now fixed.

The security certificate must be "validated" as there is no longer a problem with connecting with the web site.

I just logged in and clicked on the VeriSign logo and it indicates that the K & C Website is valid from August 25, 2008 to August 25, 2010. So, there is no further problem.
