AWI figure BR49 which is correct? (1 Viewer)

Attached are 2 images of the running redcoat figure BR49.

In one of them the musket is pointed at about waist height whilst in the other it is pointing up a lot higher. I just wondered which was the correct one or do these figures come with gun position at varying heights.

I actually prefer the one with the gun at waist height as this is more like a bayonet charge pose!

Maybe one of them belongs to a preproduction run..do you have both of them?Two weeks ago i had a beautiful surprise from K&C, i bought BR60 (the dragoon shouting) and when i received it , i opened the box and there was a dragoon ,but carrying arms with both hands (it wasn't nor BR61 neither the dragoon in BR54) so i mailed K&C and they told me it was a real rarity !This was the mail" The figure you have is a BR60 that did not go into mass production, and was changed to the BR60a 16th dragoon shouting. We show it on our site as BR60 instead of 60a as we never stocked the BR60 (original)"they told me , there are less than 100 in all the world...at the moment i can't take a pic of this "mitical creature" , but it's identical in pose (if you have the book by Don Troiani "Soldiers of the American Revolution")to the plate the 16th Light Dragoons reproduced there.

OMG you are a very very lucky man I would kill for one of those figures, I know exactly what you are talking about!!! :eek::D:cool:

I don't actually own a BR49 figure yet but I am hoping to acquire some in the next couple of months.

Voila is this what you got? That is such a cool figure would have looked wicked having some of these walking alongside the cart that was released!!

Perfect!!!!!!!It's my man!The K&C proposed me to change it with the shouting dragoon..i said "very kind from you but No...!"..eh eh..

I certainly wouldn't have changed it either, you have a real rare collectors piece there and one day you should be able to achieve a nice little profit if you ever wanted to sell it! :);)

Its a bit like finding a Willy Wonka gold ticket!!! :D

I love hearing stories like this - it is what makes collecting these guys all the fun. I bet right now - Andy has someone going through all the boxes in Hong Kong to see if there are any more of those tucked away in the stock !
 
Hi, Cornwallis, from your pics, it almost looks like the arms are identical between your two figures, but that they represent poses that are within the range of motion for the casting. It just looks like the arms were rotated a little higher in the one compared to the other.

Yes it was like going back in time..when i collected trading cards!After the initial shock for not receiving what i ordered my mood got better and better (of course after hearing the pleasant news from Rob..)..

I agree .. wonder why they pulled the figure from general release, if they have been casted, painted and boxed ?

They said me the manufacturer produced less than 100 , then shipped them back to K&C for evaluation purposes .At K&C decided to produce the shouting dragoon and dropped this project.But a few of these found their way in the shelves..i think is understandable, my box has the label "Shouting Dragoon" on it.Now the last word goes to Andy..
 
In fact that figure came from K&C UK and my goodself!

We had a small very small quantity sent to us.............by mistake. We puilled what we thought were off of the shelf all of them! Andrea was very very lucky to get one that we must have missed at the back of the shelf and as we got to the back of the stock it got sent out!!

We have the others on display in K&C UK display room along side the Wagon.............does work very nice.

Mike and myself do not know the full story but it was dropped at the very last minute! and changed to the shouting guy!

AND NO SORRY WE DONT HAVE ANYMORE

we checked the stock when Andrea e-mailed me.

This was a very nice 16th Light Dragoon figure, and before it was modified it seemed to be very similar to the figure shown in Don Troiani's 'Soldiers of the American Revolution' on page 18.
Don has very strict policies about the use of his art and I have worked with him developing figures from his work for four different companies now, including his own line. The research creating the reconstruction isn't the issue, but copying the exact uniform, equipment and pose is.
The long and short of this is that there wasn't a licensing agreement made with King & Country to do this particular figure, so that was pointed out by Don. I am sure that this was a simple misunderstanding and apparently only a few of the figures representing the figure in Don's art made it into circulation.
It seems the result is the production figure shouting...which I also think is a nice figure and a good addition to the K&C AWI line.

Really interesting point Ken, now i regret a bit not having the shouting figure (it was my first choice)but i've seen it on another site , so i hope to buy it in the future..:)
 
That is a shame about that figure - because this particular pose can be use with multiples and make a really neat diorama - where you can only use one of the shouting figure.
 
Couldn't agree more, I would have definately liked around 6 to 10 (actually loads if financially feasible) of those walking alongside the cart , whereas like you say only one shouting sergeant is required!

What would you pay for one of those figures if K&C put a price on them?, I reckon I would go up to around £75.00. :D
