Why is the MG002 Airborne Jeep & Trailer Set being Retired? (1 Viewer)

Hello Andy! The MG002 Set and the MG001 ARNHEM Sets , are the BEST you have made; 'WHY', did you have to RETIRE the MG002? I though you were going to ADD on MORE ARNHEM Sets, soon? MOST of us Collector's, want you to ADD On More Sets, for the Arhem Series!

There can be several reasons why this is being retired.Firstly maybe its not a big seller?.(although its flying out of the door now!)Secondly maybe its to make room for something else in the series or perhaps its just not one of Andys favourites.Also a fair bit of the older stuff has been retired lately so sooner or later something newer has to go,just glad i got my order in lickety split.

Perhaps the initial production run is near to selling out, and it's not financially viable to risk another run of say 500 units (or whatever the minimum is), but rather concentrate on a fresh piece.

Good point Simon,Tony only had two left when i got my order in.I wonder if this may be a very sought after set in the years to come.

Do have these sets? and if so why does it bother you they are being retired?

Companies have to retire product to make way for new stuff, can you imagine the workforce etc.. if Andy still made every set he has ever made?

No! Nothing K&C ever made should ever be retired! They should make every item that was ever in the catalog, forever! All of the Chinese factory workers who are being laid off should be employed to handle the extra capacity.

Quite right.In fact why do the workers have to go home at night?.Surely they could sleep by their work benches and work a twenty three and a half hour day so nothing ever need be retired again.

would assume when he runs low on an item he has to consider either to retire

it, or restock it, where it may sit for the next couple of years!

Andy has to plan for these storage issues when considering the release of

new items his customers "Demand" (as some people allways do) It must be

difficult at times to have to decide between another run of a released item

or a new item awaiting release.

Running a business is a difficult and complex problem, remember all the

inventory sitting in a warehouse must be paid for, along with storage and the

people to move it about! If you are using borrowed Capital to purchase it you

have the additional interest expense! All this cuts into the profits you will

make once the items are sold, less damaged and a host of other variables!

Running a successful business is easy to think about, but difficult to do!

Well said indeed.Most of us here have no idea at all about running a Toy soldier company and the problems involved.All we have to do is sit at our pc's with our lists and our credit cards and say 'Andy i want this or i want that'.

The real reason is that Opus Dei and the Illuminati have hidden a map of the hiding place of the Grail in one of the models. They are slowly by fair or fould means attempting to collect every single copy of MG002 in existence and are taking them all to Rosalind Chapel for destruction. Now they don't want you to know all this that is why they are spreading rumors about wharehouse space and labor supplies as if that has ever been a problem before. In all seriousness it is a great model. I am glad I have one. I don't hold out much hope for the LRDG . I suspect they might be in for the a nasty unexpected early retiremet type ambush soon. I have no inside information just a hunch.

The real reason is that this piece will show up again very soon in another colorpatern. My cristal bowl has told me that it will rise ans shine again as an airfield jeep, in the shadow of some nasty Bofor AA guns, next to the new control tower, just before the Me 262 strikes....
