Just to advise collectors. I sent a bank draft off to a US dealer on 3 Jan 2009. In keeping with the Birtish/European approach it was dated 3-1-2009. The US bank had a problem because in the States 3-1-2009 is first of March 2009. Anyway it seems that the confusion has been cleared up. I know most of you guys use paypal or cc, but if you do send a check across to the US or from the US to Europe or SA it is probably best to write the date in full.
Regards

We say March (3) first (1) 2009. 3-1-09
January (1) third (3) 2009 1-3-09
you must say third, January,2009
I think are way is better.

Hello Damian,

This is good advice for non-US residents buying from US based sellers who do not accept PayPal.

If I remit by a bank draft, I scrutinize the draft before leaving the bank making sure the following are correct:

(1) the name of seller in is full

(2) amount and currency as per seller requirement

(3) date in full

(4) signature of bank

I specify that no abbreviations are to be used.

Regards, Raymond.
