New Dispatches pics are up! (1 Viewer)

WOW - What surprize !

Andy - jumps from 1914 to 1917 ! LOL - this of course after he has told all of us that he would go in order year-by-year starting in 1914

Hey - Great by me, I love when restrictions are thrown out the window and everything is possible ! :D No more - well - we still 1914 again! ;)

Now that we have advance to TANKS ! - there should be no reason for us not to expect WWI WARBIRDS ! I mean lets go - hop on it - someone warm up John GAMBLE !! :p

I for one am happy for the fact we are in 1917 - now we can expect to see some American Doughboys real soon.

I do love the British Releases - all are must haves and the TANK is a real keeper. Thanks - Andy - GREAT WWI RELEASES !

Well I got excited for a moment when I saw the word Dragoon but it seems for me there is nothing here to tempt the diversion of scarce resourses in this group; which is just as well given all the competing temptations. Congratulations to those that found some bounty here.

I think we still need to get our RED LANCER collections going before we start looking for the word - "DRAGOON" !

Still debating on getting another set of the seated French Calvary - you never know how cheap a few of these might pop up in the coming months of this bad economy.

Nice selection in the releases. Does anyone know if the American Indians are Comanche? If not, what tribe. This new series might not be Custer, but it can have a multitude of personalities such as Lee, Hood, etc. Should be great. -- lancer

The TRW series looks interesting, not heard mention of it before  Love the mounted Indian

This is generally a period of the 1830's to 50's..Figures look great , but most the great Cavalry/Indian conflicts were much later and that is what most history types ,identify with..The indians would be OK, with the hope of getting some Custer era type cavalry, at a later time..Not my period, but the Dragoons might fit into an after Alamo ,Mexican/American War scenario....Michael

Forget I asked about the Indians. Just read the thread with the dispatches and answered my own question. DOH!

....
The Red Lancer collection would seem to be going pretty well at this point with what is out there already whereas the retired Dragoons are only available at silly pricing. It is nice to offer critical items to new as well as long time collectors.

Michael,

You beat me to that point. I agree with your observation.

There are lots of crossover opportunities with the US Dragoons as earlier pointed out. How about the scale though? If 1/32 scale on the Indians, they would be compatible with other lines with the same theme despite the differences between Plains Indians and Southwestern Indians.

The Dragoons are the big ones though; depending on the popularity, this theme can be expanded very nicely.

It would seem to me it's a great strategy to minimize the effects of the economy and keep attracting collectors to King and Country. Kudos to Andy for doing this; It’s a nice blend on expanding existing themes, re-release of the K2 (it saves me with a re-paint) and creating crossover themes with the “The Real West”.

Just a thought,

Carlos

Andy - jumps from 1914 to 1917

Big surprise, I was expecting the Battle of the La Somme 1916...But still great releases for WWI.

Cheers

Whew, I get a breather as this dispatch won't hurt my pocketbook! Not much in the way of new or retired WWII, Napoleonics or Crusaders. Most of the retirements I want I have and the new releases while awesome in detail ( AR, TRW, WWI, RTA) are not time periods I collect. Nice breather for what I believe will be an expensive summer. I do love the colours on the aboriginals and may just pick one up as a one off and the ambulance with stretcher bearer is on my list for a later date for sure. :)

Agreed - DRAGOONS would be nice. But, my wallet needs to finish the RED LANCERS ! ;)

It will be interesting to see what future NAPOLEONICS come out this year. We had some great releases last year with the (SL) Napoleon Command Tent and the Old Guard figures :D

However we need that FRENCH LINE ARTILLERY !

We could also use some NAPOLEONIC DIORAMA PIECES too !

would agree that they're probably suppose to be Comanche.... how ever, looks like a mismosh of tribes..... like taking an American GI, putting a German para smock on top, British trousers, a French helmet, etc. and labeling it as a typical WWll soldier... IMO of course.....

Andy could justify an extended "research" trip to San Antonio to bask in the sun and ERRR... research the tribes! :p

The Brit's WWI almost fooled me into believing they were new FOB sets. They look great too!

Carlos

Yes, it is amazing at how close the British uniforms of late WWI matched the WWII versions in both color and style. The main difference seems to be the wrappings above the boots.
