Hi Guys,
I am really keen to see what fellow first legion collectors and fans have done with their figures. I recently posted a first legion vignette in the diorama section, but as Spitfrnd suggested, it deserves a thread in the First Legion section by itself. They are truly very photogenic. So lets go!!! Show us your stuff :D

Cheers!!!

Good on mate. They are indeed photogenic. What did you use for your camera settings, distance and lighting for your FL Dio photos here?

As I too am an avid collector, I found myself wandering over to my display case and taking out some figures to "play" with this afternoon. I was really seeing how well the figures would fit in a small redoubt that I have and was just messing around with some of the British Guards figures and the British 9lb Artillery set that is now on pre-order. While I by no mean have anything close to the photography skills of Octavian (greeeeen with envy I am), here are the humble results of that effort.

These figures are just wonderful! Dio looks great and lots of detail like the cannon balls half buried in the earth.

You're kiddin me right??? They are sensational shots!!! Clean, clear and sharp with right amount of light. Bellisimo!!! (pardon my Italian)

Regardless of photography skill levels, these pictures are a testament to the photogenic aspect and quality of first legion period.

Thanks for kicking off the thread with pics from your personal collection.

Come on folks, I wanna see more!!!!

I completely agree. Where did you get the redoubt Matt, the figures look right at home there?

I got it from my good friends over at TM Terrain in the UK as a scratch built. Our first terrain pieces are actually coming out in about 45 days and if you like this piece, you're going to LOVE the stuff we've got coming! :D

It is always great to see the pieces I do 'in action'. The downside of model making for other people is that I have to ship out everything so hardly ever see the models in their natural habitat- surrounded by lots of great looking figures.

The cannon balls, by the way, were the plastic heads of map pins. They come in lots of different colours. Pull the ball off the pin and you have a ready made cannon ball once you have painted it.

Ah jolly good show, I shall look forward to seeing it.

I was "playing" with my toys again today...Though, since it was for "work" I guess you could say I was working very hard! I created a few more small dioramas and thought you might enjoy them.

Stone the crows and starve the lizards!!! Wow, those village houses look sensational!!!

Very nice looking buildings indeed. I will be looking forward very much to these releases.

The buildings need a step up to match the quality of the figures...

I think you should wait till you can see them in person before you pass judement on them. They look very good to me.

My one suggestion would be about the hieght of the edge. It appears to be about an eighth inch tall. I would have perfered if the edge blended into the surface of the shelf or tabletop.

Are these new First Legion accessories? What do you think their prices would be?

Most know I’m a WWII collector (some in Vietnam & Iraqi War) but these figures are brilliant and my compliments on the dio too. Is there anything brewing on the WWII front for First Legion? Scale? If so, when do you plan to unveil it; West Coaster hopefully?

I think we'd be hard pressed to match the quality of our figures with mass produced buildings. That being said, the buildings are better in person than in the images I think (as are the figures!). The lighting, which isn't photography lighting, washes them out a bit unfortunately.

Yes, these will be part of a full line of scenics that we're doing and will be available for pre-order in March at some point. As for the height of the base edge, we'll take that under advisement for future releases. Our next set after these doesn't have this, but are flush to the ground with no surrounding base. Of course, the ones following won't be Russian, so unless someone else makes some, these will probably be the only Russian village houses available. These are obviously meant to go with our Napoleonics, but are clearly suitable for WWI and WWII Eastern Front...

As for price, it hasn't been set yet. Less than $200 for sure, more than $140 for sure...
