New Dispatches pics are up! (1 Viewer)

The manager of an English football club (Liverpool i think?)once famously said 'Football is not a matter of life and death, its much more important than that';)

I believe that might have been Bill Shankly?

I have heard that saying and it's one I definitely agree with!

Simpson asked
"Does this mean we will see a German A7V this year ?"

The only original A7V in the world is in Brisbane Australia and it has been mentioned to Andy of K&C that it is here. However not sure if in his plans to do it.

A bit of background "Mephisto remained stranded at Monument Wood until July 1918, when Australian troops of the 26th Battalion AIF (composed mainly of Queenslanders) eventually pushed the Allied front line past Mephisto's position. It was recovered by Allied forces on the night of 22 July 1918 and taken to Vaux-en-Amienois before being shipped to England in January 1919. During this time, Mephisto was 'redecorated' with details of its capture, soldiers' names and a 'British' lion with his paw on an A7V.

Subsequently, it was proposed that the tank to be displayed as a 'war trophy' in Queensland. Mephisto eventually arrived in Brisbane aboard the S S Armagh in June 1919 where it was unloaded at the Norman Wharf. On the morning of 22 August, two City Council steamrollers towed the tank to the Queensland Museum in Gregory Terrace. It remained there until 1986 when both it and the Museum were relocated to the Queensland Cultural Centre, South Bank".

For further information on this tank go to www.qm.qld.gov.au/features/mephisto/index.asp

So Simmo you can see a A7V this year ! Just maybe not one you can carry home.
Regards
Brett

Yes Brett I have seen it many times. When it was at the old museum you could climb up onto it and look through the gun holes. Now its behind glass at the new museum so you can't quite get the hands on affect. My wifes great uncle was with the 26th battalion so maybe he was there that day they captured it.You did a great job of restoring his medals and I mounted them in a box frame.Simmo.

Having taken a look, I'd say that my favorites are the Revolutionary War and Streets of Old Hong Kong figures. If I were to start collecting K&C, I'd jump in with SOHK. The archer set is the neatest one in this release, IMO.
....
Well Brad, you better jump soon; that set is on the being retired list.;) If I had room for another period right now, I would grab those Crusaders, the one's being retired are very nice as well.

i hope there will be diorama pics of the K&C's British Mark. IV Heavy Tank besides the infantry soon.

now for some barbed wire, trenches and german WW1 stormtroopers. :)

I thought Andy was going in order by year concerning the WWI releases? Why all the sudden are we in 1917?

its quite a surprise too as i thought Andy mentioned beforehand he'll go chronologically year by year. but he has also just announced that he'll not miss 1916.

I suspect the outcry for 1917 from members of this forum might have had something to do with it . . . :p

Well it will be a topic of discussion in March - won't it Louis ! ;)

I' m relatively disappointed (obviously not by the beautiful figures and the tank) by this "jump"...i was expecting early poilus just as the WBritain ones , maybe you are right JPB..by the way this not precludes the return to 1914..just one question :under the new Tommies there will be the writing "1914"?
