Why are there no big toy soldier shows in Australia. We have a young developing toy soldier nation here with people and collectors who are screaming out to expand our hobby. Why are K&C and the other big companys not driving to start new markets in this great country. Now in times of unease they should be looking at new places to hold shows and bring toy soldier collecting to new kids on the block. We in Australia are so close to S.E.ASIA that a small visit down under one weekend form K&C would bring the collectors out of the wood work. What do you say Andy .Come and visit OZ and bring some magic to us as you do the other great nations of the toy soldier collectors.I am sure the Military workshop and Brett would love a visit and bring collectors into his shop for a weekend.Just a thought and a dream.Simmo.:confused::confused:

The West Coaster occuring right now was organized by the Old Toy Soldier Home and inspired by the Chicago Show in that it also has room trading in the hotel. Before the San Antonio Show, the West Coaster was the only show west of the Mississippi. If you want a show, you need to get Australian dealers like the Military Workshop to organize it, find a location, then invite manufacturers and dealers.:)

Dear Simpson,
There were two such shows held in Brisbane in 2000 and 2001 called AUSFIG. For the first one we were told K&C was coming but he did not. All the small Aussie toy soldier makers were there plus a couple from NZ plus some Wargaming businesses. I set up also although at that time was not dealing in Toy Soldiers.
It was held in a City Hotel and for the traders it was not a successful show. The highlight for me was the trader who drove up from Melbourne (2000km) with his baby and did the whole trip and show with the baby next to him.
As far as I remember no interstate traders came back the next year. If I had been from interstate I would not have returned either.
In relation to your suggestion the initial invitation has already been made by myself about a month ago but it is a matter of suitable dates. I have been aiming to co-incide it with an event in Brisbane that may be of interest to interstate visitors and Andy and have only yesterday found out the date which will be suggested to Andy when he returns from his current trip.
Regards
Brett

I have been dreaming of going to a ToySoldier show since i got back into the Hobby :).
But it would have to be worth my while no point in driving or flying interstate
just to walk around a room in 20 mins.
its a shame we doint have a good show in OZ or a show for that matter.
:)

maybe you will get a visit when andy comes out with more commonwealth troops for north africa
