what price would you pay (1 Viewer)

Perhaps but for me that would be a rare exception. I care very little of the scarcity of an item and am only interested in its appeal to me and how well it fits with what else I have or intend to get. Frankly, there are so many competing choices for me that are readily available at retail that I am happy to leave the rare to those interested in that aspect.

It all depends on a collectors interests. Certainly there are many current choices. Some collectors however may like a certain series such as Arnhem, or Vietnam, or early pieces like the wooden vehicles King & Country produced.

If this is of interest, first you have to find the items, then you have to decide whether it fits into your budget.

Personally I enjoy the hunt for a rare piece, much more then simply ordering a current item produced by the thousands.:)

Yes i can understand that if its a peice you really want and can afford it at the accelerated rarer prices, but personally prefer the easier task of more ready available peices that appeal to me and the cheaper prices. I'd rather go without than pay more for something than its really worth.I certainly wouldn't want a peice just because its rare. I think most buy for what they like rather than for how many of them there are.I manged thanks to a forum member to obtain the K&C scots grey collapsing horse at a much more reasonable price than the £122 the one on ebay went for so am more than happy with that, more fool those that pay OTT.

Its just a matter of personal taste, different collectors have different points of view. Some want one of everything, others wish to complete an entire series. I enjoy several different series, a couple of them long retired, I also enjoy hunting for rare items a bit more then simply ordering an item. Just a matter of opinion. Another factor is room.....once you run out, you tend to be more selective in what you look for.:)

Ain't no mountain high enough or no river deep enough....

Well said! To each is own. I always enjoy reading/seeing how others go about building their collections.:)

Yes, it seems the longer you collect the tighter the space, which I supose is a good thing as it leaves a few items for other collectors!

I try to keep things out of closets, or other storage spaces.....which is not often possible. I try to keep items out on display, so that when something new shows up something else has to go.

Some folks can't do that, but I find it quite easy as there always seems to be something you like even more then the piece that just left.

Good for you! A lot of collectors can't do that, and you have to wonder where they put everything! Over the years items can really begin to pile up!

Yes, its amazing what we can stuff almost anywhere, usually the wife is the voice of reason.......but after awhile even she can give up. Its nice to be able to enjoy your items, so when you find yourself packing them away......it might be a good time to consider other options.

Perhaps a larger display area, or placing a limit of what you are bringing on board!:D

Im just about out of space myself:eek: But you can always find some little space for it.

yes i'm with you on that all naps for me i always like to have my collection on display if theres an item that iv'e become bored with i'd rather sell it on to another collector than be put alway under the stairs, i find theres always some you never sell on and some you fall out of love with and i now only collect k&c and britains plus i have both full sets on display of the del prado range of napoleon at war ( lucky enough they dont make them no more :D)

True, but believe me the day will come when you suddenly realize.........you are out of room!

I just picked up a neat Dinky Pipe truck I had searched for quite a numer of years. I was able to fit the box in my Dinky cabinet......the truck was quite another story! It took me a couple of hours to finally stuff it into another cabinet......but the items removed.....will have to go!

Next day the west coast show figures arrived.........here we go again!

tell me about it ;) always messing around once a new figure turns up, funny when you buy it you can see it on display but try and fit it in is another story

Yes isn't that the truth......then of course there are the new releases, often

with numerious figures and vehicles of interest......a never ending cycle.

Lately I have not seen many interesting early items on Ebay, probably due

to current prices. If that should pick up again, I will certainly be sunk!:D

NEW RELEASES tell me about it britains are releasing a set of black watch figures that iv'e got to blend in with my k&c ones will have fun when they come out ;)

I recently moved my entire collection from an upper floor to the basement (two flights of stairs). What a task! Gives me pause on how much is enough. I have certainly become more selective and now take space into consideration with each purchase.

Yes, nothing like a move to get your attention! I hope your move was 100%

successful with no casualties suffered along the way! I have been very lucky

myself, thick carpet has prevented many unpleasant experiences!
