Nik at ATS has now added the final group to the Crimean Cavalry Division. Depicted at the moment the division prepared to move off down the valley led by Cardigan and the Light Brigade and supported by Scarlett and the Heavy Brigade Nik has now added the Divisioal commader, Lord Lucan, and his staff to the set thus covering the complete make up of the entire division. The set is comprised of Lucan, his orderly trumpeter, Trumpet major Henry Joy 17th Lancers; Lord Bingham, Coldstream Guards; Lord Paulet, General Staff: Captain the Hon. W. Charteris, 92nd Highlanders: and Captain Walker,
7th Dragoon Guards. Check the complete range at www.ats-uk.net

They look rather nice. I had a good look at ATS's figures at the London show and have to say they have an excellent finish to them.

Jeff

I was really excited to see this new set materialize as I have just recently begun collecting the Light Bde figures. Only have 3 in hand so far, but 4 and 5 are on the way, and will slowly build on this in the coming months. I agree with Jeff's comments about the nice finish on these figures. I've mentioned on other threads that I am really drawn to ATS' figures personality. Great stuff and highly recommended items for any glossy collectors out there. I will try to get some photos up once the camera returns from running errands.

Here is a photo of some ATS 17th Lancers. Waiting eagerly to add to these guys. :)

Congratulations,Mr. Dave, Those ATS look splendid.
Best,John

Dave, are you going to represent all the different regiments?

Jeff

Hi Jeff, you know I'd love to represent all 600 or so present at the charge, but.......

I will be getting at least a half dozen or so from each of the five regiments eventually and have an 11th Hussar and 13th LD coming next. Also hoping to commision something special for Nolan addressing Lucan and Cardigan, and a few other items I have in mind, but all in good time.

Thanks Scott (that's right isn't it ?), and John. I am also builiding a sizable Napoleonic display with ATS and LL figures right now, but that is top secret for the moment.

Have a good weekend,

MD

Dave, the figures do look great.

Are the bases painted?

From the pics they look like they are covered with a scenery material to make them look more realistic.

These bases are "landscaped" with foliage and look very nice. Nik will also do plain painted bases in rectangular shapes or in shaped/sculpted bases depending on your preference.

Hi Jeff And Dave,

I understand that the consumer can specify a matte finish when ordering figures from ATS. As you've both seen them up close and personal (and I know you both have K&CUK Crimea figures), what's your opinion on mixing them with K&CUK's Charge figures in a large-ish diorama?
Would they work, say, as background figures to fill out a dio?

Thanks
Harry

Hey Harry, how are you doing out there? Seen any pirates yet? :p

As for mixing these with K&C, I think as you say, they might work as background figures as the scale is even more different than, say Britains matte figures for example. You would definitely want to place these little guys in the distance, and then there is the matter of paint style, which may also be an issue, though I have never seen one of his matte finished figures in real life, so I cannot say with much certainty how this would work.

Nik is very accomodating and will entertain most reasonable "special" requests I've found. He did tell me that he is anticipating some action figures for the light brigade range down the road, and also mentioned some fighting figures for Inkermann in the future as well. I will try to post some custom pieces he did for somebody else, so bear with me and they should appear below. I think he said these were converted from his Nap cavalry.

Nice talking with you again,
MD

Thank you, Dave,
for the photo. It is hard to get a good idea of the quality of these figures when looking at the photos on their website.
Yours is much better.
They do have a lot of interesting sets on offer.
Are you buying directly from them or do they have a dealer here in the States?

Hi Trooper,

Thanks for posting the image of this superb ATS set of Lord Lucan and aides.

Beautiful glossy paint finish.

Best, Raymond.

:)

These figures are beautiful. Is there a U.S. distributer for ATS ? -- lancer

Hello MD,

Thank you very much for posting these fantastic custom made ATS figures.

The ATS website only shows their standard sets of Crimean War cavalry either standing or walking.

I look forward to the "action figures" that you have alluded to.

It would be nice to see ATS Crimean War cavalry charging or at least at canter sets for regular offer.

Best, Raymond.

:)

Dave, the only "Pirate" I've seen out here so far, is when I take a shave in the morning.
Thanks for the response, it was in fact along the lines of what I expected. But especial thanks for the photo's. As you know, I'm a sort of dull, matte kinda guy. But those glossies are brilliant (pun intended). I've certainly got my "Thinking and Pondering" hat on at the moment.
We'll see what Jeff has to say once the UK wakes up at around 15:00 my time. Cos I'm +7 hours GMT.

Cheers Mate
Harry

Hi Konrad, I am buying them directly from Nik, and he has excellent service with reasonable shipping fees and good turnaround time on orders so far. I think there is a dealer somewhere in the US, but don't know how much of the massive inventory he would actually have on hand. Hope that helps.

MD
