Differences between sets or slight changes to figures (1 Viewer)

This will be quite a story:D

A Couple of years back I was down at a London show and purchased some Zulus from Trophy Miniatures when it was still in business:)

When I'd got back up to Scotland I ordered a couple more sets, and they sent me down the sets I'd ordered as well as an old catalogue:D

After looking through it I saw a set called 'Picket Line':D

My mum phoned up and asked them about it, but they said that this set was long discontinued and that the moulds had been destroyed:eek:

A Couple of days later they phoned back and I was out at the time, however my mum answered and it was Trophy Miniatures!

They told my mum that after we had previously phoned, the men who owned the company sat down and talked about it, and they had decided to make another set of the one I wanted:D

They said it would be a while as the moulds would have to be mde up again, and it would have to be painted, but about 2 months later the set came:D

It looked different from the picture in the catalogue but who cares?:D

It made my day very much!:D

So now I practically have a customed made set, one of a kind:D

I am sure I speak for the other Trophy "addicts" when I say "Please can you post a picture?"

Cheers

Martyn,
And this other dying, wounded, dead, or not mortally wounded fellow looks like he could be from "Incident at Isandlwana" except for his left foot, which I recall is raised onto aa ammo crate.

Hi Mike

I think you mean BD9 "The Spears are Washed";) I thought that as well but the figure is not wearing a boot in the BD9 set.

Cheers

Martyn:)

Here they are. Notice the differences in color.

Excellent k v, I also spot the Officer from HZ 5 with a brown base and a Gatling Gun lurking in the background, NICE, VERY NICE;)

Thank you for posting the pictures

Martyn:)

I took some close-ups of that set. Need to load then will post tomorrow. Is HZ5 supposed to have the Kings Colours? I picked him up with a Dervish I think.

To think that I ONCE OWNED some 200 Trophy figures. Back in the day, when Greystone history store was cleaning out Trophy Napoleonics for $60.00 a set, I was a big addict. Most of my first stuff came from Gettysburg toy soldier, under Ed Miller and Rich ( the Trophy guy ). Rich lived in MD, and I totally regret not touring his Trophy collection when offered. He was a personal friend of Len and his son, both of whom I met, at a Valley Forge show, many moons ago.He told me that his support beams for his house were built into his center room display cases..He was a good guy and I totally bum out, when I see your stuff. I was more of a Nappy collector, which would have been different, compared to you ZULU guys..I actually felt that the sets were becoming redundant as to poses and paint schemes and the same faces for everyone, started to bug me. It could be, that I did not take my meds for a long time:p and lost my collection focus. But no excuses, only regret. The only Trophy I have to offer , are the best and most accurate of Len's ACW period..Also, it was a first attempt to create 2 unique gun crews with different faces and personalities. Note that every guy is unique in pose and purpose..This is the set that I will take to my grave..As I kept selling down my Trophy collection, I always knew that this group would survive..Enjoy.Michael

Michael,
No sense lamenting, you still have some Trophy, and the ones you've chosen as your most favorite! Very nice gun team set. If you're like me, you sit back and enjoy everyone elses via this forum, and I do mean ENJOY.
Mike

Great sets mike, i almost picked up those two artillery sets at the old toy soldier home but instead chose some kc that just got retired. In hindsight that was a srew up. But as far as different positions and faces, len started mixing things up near the end of his company. If you look at pictures from his american revolution range you will see british grenidiers running and all are in slightly different poses. The same with thompsons pennsylvania set. Each soldier has his gun or arms at a different angle. I can only imagine what len might have produced if he had stayed on or if his son had had more interest in the company.

Great sets.
I would pay many cattle for the caisson
Thanks for posting
