K&C; For me its all about style (1 Viewer)

OK - Guys

I am back from the Big Easy and look at these wonderful releases !

My - My - So many wonderful things to choose .... I wonder what will be my first purchase ? ;)

FRENCH DRAGOONS PERHAPS ? :D :D

All in all a great release except for one thing - who in the heck is going to buy all this British Crap  - I mean really, there were more british figures released this past two months that even fought in the World War !

Hehehehehe - LOL - LOL - :p:D:p:D - just joking Rob - claim down, and forget to buy your Market Garden figures that are being all retired. ;)

Well for me K&C have nailed it again. There is just something uniquely addictive about their figures, and these new D Day figures really bring that home. Now this is an appreciation of their latest releases on the K&C thread,so i am not mentioning other companies as i do not want to start any conflict on here,we've had enough of that of late.

For me what happens is this.I look at figures from other producers and i think wow, these are very nice and i could be tempted here. Now and again i will give in.However with K&C its a much more instant thing, looking at the D Day figures this morning it is not a case of if but of when.I think it is their own unique style that does this, they manage to bring realism, quality together to great effect.Check out the guy being attended by the medic,he looks in a bad way indeed.

I just wanted to raise with you all the quality of these latest releases, when we feel something is not good enough or we have been short changed we are free to raise it,that is our right. But in the same breath when we think something is right on the money then we are also at liberty to say that too.And i think here with Normandy K&C have nailed style and quality, nice one i say.:)

Rob

Rob,
Very well said as usual, spot on with your comments mate, there truly is just an "IT!" factor with K & C figures.

The landing craft and the British figures are superb, spectacular really. I am glad for all of the D-Day enthusiasts out there to be getting these terrific pieces for their collections.

Also exciting to see Andy has more items planned for July; looks like the British forces and the Canadians too will be very well represented. Taking nothing away from the Americans who landed on Utah and especially Omaha, but the last time I checked the British and the Canadians both played a rather important role in D-Day, something regarding Gold, Sword, Juno and oh yeah, Caen!

I have said this elsewhere but K&C many years raised the bar on toy soldiers.
For years other companies watched their market share drop as K&C became more and more successful. But, what has happened is the market has grown and the style of figures have evolved. I look at the catalogues of other manufacturers and their level of detail and craftsmanship has grown. Everybody does things differently They all do them well and they have all improved even K&C improves though sometimes it hardly seems possible to do so. Just my two pennies worth:D

DO you know what I really admire in K&C work?? the germans look german, brits look brits, americans look americans and so forth, it's the simple detail in facial exspressions, as well as the size of a hand holding a gun, small things to me add up to the bigger picture, I'm no way a rivit counter, but the detail is there month in and month out with K&C...Sammy

For me it is not even a question anymore.....I look at others and sometimes say that is nice but at the end of the day I buy the K&C pieces. They look good and just seem right.

you know king and country is like trophy. nobody did gloss better than trophy and nobody does matte better than king and country.

Rob you are 100% right about the figures. They are why i got into K&C in the first place. The tanks did nothing for me with the track problems but the soldiers stood out hands down every time I walked into the Military workshop.

The figures are getting better every year and the way K&C think about what they do when making them is with a diorama in mind for sure.K&C have once again made great figures this month and they will have to go on the wish list for me which is growing very large.Simmo.

Hi guys,

I guess its all about what does it for each of us with our collections isn't it.The first time i saw K&C in London many years ago i just thought these are the best WW2 figures i've seen anywhere, and for me that still holds true. When it comes to vehicles things are pretty close, with several companies past and present challenging for the title. But for me K&C are still in the lead with their figures, there are challengers however and this can only be good for collectors.

George, thanks mate it is great news about the Canadians,we are going to have a large Brit and Canadian presence in Normandy very soon, can't wait for this.Must start thinking about dio's!

Ah the wish list,it grows by the day around here doesn't it!.Every time i try and concentrate on one subject along comes something else i want!:).I just love this Hobby!:D

This is the reason I miss out on so much.To much which is to good and not enough time or money to collect it.Simmo.P.S this is a good thing as k&c are doing there job of producing so many great things. But it makes it hard somtimes as you have to choose.Simmo

Yes along with the Brits the Canadians will be very welcome and a big boost to the Allied troops on our Normandy beaches,i very much like the Staghound that was released sometime ago and maybe the Canadians will get some more armour this time around.

Rob

Maybe what I said earlier got twisted around; it appeared based on what Andy said that more D-Day items are on the way in July re British and Canadians aside from the new sets announced with this months dispatches.

I don't want to start an untrue rumor, but that is how I read the dispatches...............

This is what Andy said in the Dispatches:

"ADDITIONAL NOTE: This is just the first part of a major two-part launch of British and Canadian forces that are being released in June and July of this year… more info next month."

I would love a release of the rangers at Point D'Hoc...

If there is going to be a Canadian D-Day release in July, then purchasing the LCA becomes a necessity. I have no idea where to display it.

As a guess, I would expect only Canadian troops to go with the LCA but no armour.

I am a big K/C armor-vehicle fan, because of the unique painting technique. If I buy another mfg. vehicle, it is only because they were able to come close to the K/C look..Sorry, but I tend to sell off my extra K/C figures ,that come with the vehicles. I prefer the K/C style for WW2 figures, but tend not to collect grounpounders of any nationality....Michael

Please tell me this thread has not fallen victim to another round of arguments?.All i wanted to do is share my enjoyment of the latest releases,if its degenerated into more anger i'd rather it was closed. While the world holds its breath over Swine Flu here on TF we have 'Deletion Flu' breaking out.
