I am still working on a collection I acquired and found a couple sets I have not seen before. One looks like 17th century soldiers with very long spears and distinctive round unmarked basis. The second set looks like Royal Marines set and has a mark on the base which reads something like "AR".
Any ideas?

The bottom photo of the RMLI is almost certainly early Steadfast, but the bottom usually has the info stamped on it. Maybe others could assist.
No idea on the musketeers

Well, they represent English Civil War figures, that's about all I can say, until I get home tonight and can thumb through my O'Brien.

Prosit!

Hello guys,
Thank you for your input : I figured out that the "round base" soldiers are ALYMERS!

Are they? The bases look a little thick for Alymer, though I can't say I've seen every variety that they might use. My Alymer figures have a circular base of thin copper or brass sheet, as thin as a tin can, and embossed with "Alymer" over "Spain".

Prosit!

Brad is right(again). My Alymers all have thin brass sheet in with Alymer and Spain on them.

Well, let's just say I'm skeptical, until there's more definitive evidence, like a picture from an Alymer catalog, for example.

Boerboy, are they 54mm, too? Mike's figures and mine are from the 54mm line. I know Alymer also makes the smaller Miniploms, which are actually quite smaller, but yours look like they're at least 54mm.

Do you happen to have the box they came in? That would help, too.

Are there any markings under the bases?

Prost!

To thank John for the confirmation, I ran downstairs and did a quick set-up of my guys!

Hi Brad,

On the second thought I am probably wrong: even these soldiers are 54 mm, they do not have any writing on the base. I looked up all the boxes and I had only Alymer knights boxes which I already fit with figures. However I have never seen any other toy soldiers but Alymers with a large round bases.

Now I am done with sorting of the Arkova-Ponoply collection which had really interesting 5-pcs sets I have never seen before. I will post their pictures later tomorrow. Then I will have to do a Tradition collection ....

Thank you guys, I really appreciate your help.
Alex

Hi, Alex, thanks! I'm still looking through my references to see if I can find anything similar. I'll look through issues of Toy Soldier & Model Figure next.

Prost!
Brad
