Returning Patrol. These guys really look like they've trudged through a frozen forest all night, weary but still wary they can almost smell the hot black coffee wafting from their lines through the trees urging them back.Their prisoner seems unperturbed by his situation,is this because he knows a great offensive is about to start and he will surely soon be back amongst his own?.

One of my favorites also Rob. All the Bulge figures are done superbly.

Yes they really are done well, they manage to get over the sense of discomfort, weariness and resolve in this bleak theatre of war. There are in my opinion classics throughout the series.Anyone who has not yet got the US Howitzer i urge you to get it,its a superb set and now retiring.

What a good thread- nice one Rob.
"Returning Patrol" is one of my faves too. the quality of the sculpting is top notch - they really do look like they are freezing!
I also like the way the set stands alone and tells a story.
This is something we don't see so much of anymore. I guess increasing prices made 4 figures sets not so popular.
Back around the time of "Returning Patrol" 4 figure sets were the norm and quite reasonably priced. With the 4 figures it was much easier to tell a story and create a simple scene.

Thanks James.I too miss the old four figure set releases, these made up some classic K&C releases in my view.AK,D Day,US Paras and Brit commandos amongst others all had wonderful four figure sets.

The guy with the Thompson is particularly cool looking.
A K&C classic!

Yeah,kind of 'I'm cold,hungry and p***** off'!

Sounds like me when I got in from work yesterday having been caught in a downpour!
Minus the Thompson though.

Yes looking back on it those 4 figure sets were great value compaired to today and there were many great ones but I believe the days of 4 figure sets are gone. On a positive note I noticed that many of the four figure sets would have one throw away figure that wasn't so good. I can't say the same for any of the more recent three figure sets and the sculpting and colour is much better.

No doubt about it the quality gets better all the time,i like both the three and four figure sets, its just that the four figure sets were what i first started collecting.

That's an interesting point. When i look back at the sets from 2005, 2006 I don't see a huge improvement now in painting or sculpts. They were pretty good back then really and had that chunky style that I personally like.

Look at the US Airborne sets at that time like "Flank Attack" and "Bazooka Team". Great figures and poses.

Also the AK sets like the AK Mortar and MG42 set and the WSS sets like MG42 Group, Panzershreck Team.

aaah those were the days...

I agree. The US Paras are some of the best K&C have produced, really good figures with some excellent poses.Andy said a while back that he'd made enough of these for a while, but i think he has a point as these sets really do the job in my view.

As for the AK sets they are also K&C firing on all cylinders,i hope we may see some more 'in action' figures in this range.
