Following the tread about NA158(sl) and further ideas for specials. Would it not be nice to dream up a list of favorite models or group of models of the Napoleon area? A sort of top-ten list?

This is my "I would like to see" list:

LaSalle and hussars
Gun and Limber with horses and crew (french or english)
Austrian foot
Equipment, guns, tents, campfire, etc
Prussian foot
Prussian cavalry
Gen.Piction/ Blücher/ just some famous guys
1st Life Guards cavalry
Foreign troops (Irish Legion, Dutch militia)

well that's all, for now and no specials included:D:D:D. Sure this isn't a final list, it will change over time due to changing interest, in naps of course;)

All good choices............
I would add French line infantry (Fusiliers) perhaps in overcoats so they can be used with almost any campaign.

I think a great and unique series would be Napoleon in Egypt........
Colorful French demi-brigades, Napoleon mounted on a camel and Mameluke cavalry with a multi-stage pyramid model for background.

Love the idea for Austrians; they were involved in some major battles and campaigns (Asspern/Essling, Wagram, the 1814 French Campaign, etc) and there are several uniform variants to produce (Fusiliers, Grenadiers, Chasseurs), along with cavalry (Dragoons, Hussars, Uhlans, Cuirassiers).

Would also like to see Dutch/Belgians, Nassau Troops, Brunswickers, etc for Waterloo as the British army was more of an allied army during the Waterloo campaign.

Prussians, for the same reasons George gave above for the Austrians.

Prost!

Great list:), especially the Prussian and Austrian. I would add some figures from the peninsular campaign as well, Spanish etc...

LaSalle charging with his Hussars would be on top of my list, followed immediately by Mameluke Cavalry.

I'd like to see more ragged troops..foraging parties with chicken, pigs, a soldier leading a mule with provisions...reading all the memoirs of the peninsular veterans i think they were more similar to the confederates (with shortcomings in supplies, ragged appearence and all that) than to the parade troops we have at the moment (i'm not critical, i understand they are made to be useful in dioramas)..an idea could be the 2 volumes by Mike Chappell on the Peninsular Infantry , the Irish and Light Infantry, edited by Osprey MAA series, there are some beautiful scenes depicted like after the sacking of Badajoz, or the battle of Victoria with soldiers playing cards, examining the booty...i agree on the Egypt troops..really a colourful range could be...

Kogu,

That would be great. I have put him and his Hussars at number one in my list.
I would like it very much if he would be modeled for K&C

i'd love to see..........................................

some high ranking british generals, supply wagons, forges,a french ambulance as i believe they was the first to use one. some 95th,prussians and most of all a full marching napoleonic band.

I vote for the mamelukes with Squadron leader Kirmann leading the charge!:)

Agree on the need for French centre company fusiliers. Also...
1st Life Guards
6th Inniskillings
.. in fact any Union Brigade in full flight..
.. and French Line Lancers to decimate them..
British Hussars (10th or 11th)
French Hussars (7th?)
Cameron or Gordon Highlanders
British Foot Regiment (27th or 52nd Light)
French Chassuer Guards
Dutch Grenadier Guards (in white)

Apologies in advance to the Nap experts if I have erred from accuarcy in my list :)

Great stuff,

What about some English & French infantry / sappers building earth works with tools and carts, also some dead gunners and infantry with missing legs and arms after being blown apart by the guns.

I'd like to see the Mamelukes of the Imperial Guard depicting their famous charge at the Battle of Austerlitz. Their uniforms at this time still had the very distinct Oriental style as opposed to their more standardized dress after 1808. Another reason to do Austerlitz is that a number of the figures could be painted as non-Europeans. An officer, trumpeter, toug bearer and 3 charging pieces would be excellent.

I would be willing to share with Andy all of my uniform resources I have collected during the past 30 years of studying this unit.

Given their unique uniform, it is amazing that no one yet to make figures of this unit.

Hello Grognard,

Yes there are several companies that produce Mamelukes. I was referring to toy soldier manufacturers. Years ago All The Queens Men did a set. The Latvian company IG did two individual pieces: an officer and timbalier. They are in the process of reorganizing, so hopefully they will reappear in the near future.

Thanks,
Russ
