"At the end of the day… Buy what you like and… What you can afford" (1 Viewer)

I think there may be more than one masterbaiter. :D Fortunately there aren't too many and most forum members can debate the positives and negatives of various pieces and manufacturers without making it personal or having to take an argument to a bitter, unprovable end. Rob and I have a longstanding difference of opinion on which tank killed Whittmann and Fmethorst and I have not seen eye to eye on a few armour camo colours, but these debates only went as far as the contradictory or scant data would take us and then we went on to other things.

Terry

Well it was quite a mass debate going on about scale and FL vs K and C etc.
Hopefully it will settle down now and we can agree to disagree and all move on.

I don't agree Rob. The bitterness has generally been caused by an old master of baiting. I suppose the Devil makes him do it. Everyone should have a favorite producer or more if they like, without having someone attempt to second guess their choices, as is the habit of the prime protagonist.

I can't say i got too involved in the FL scale debate,i thought that Matt had stated at the outset that they would not go with other leading producers figures.I always thought that if i purchased them they would make for a superb stand alone display.

Terry is quite right here, its all about not letting things get out of proportion, and as soon as he accepts i am right i will remove the contract i have out on him and we can move on!;)

Andy - that's a very considered reply and one i agree with.
Like many collectors here - I collect some K&C, some Figarti, i've got some Britains, some Honour Bound, some Little Legion and Trophy and John Jenkins and recently some Thom Gunn.
It's all good.

Agreed 100% Easy.

Everything else in my life haven a competition.

I'm so glad I made the decision at the beginning of my collector life to enjoy this hobby instead of having to be the best or always having to get the best.

Carlos

I'm glad we hear personal feedback from the ''creators or owners" form our manufacturers, I don't always agree a 100% with what they say, but just like the rest of the guys on the forum it's good to hear thiere views on scale, size, different campaigns etc. let's face it, right now there are some serious rivalries going on between F.L. C.S. K&C, Figarti, and HB and now you also have Thomas Gunn as well, we collectors are the winners in all of this, so these are happy times for all of us, think about it, between cut-backs, layoffs, closurers, our hobby is not only surviving it's getting bigger and better every day!!!!!so I choose to be happy at the end of the day with what I buy...hoping the rivalries cotinue...Sammy

It wasn't a debate. There was a very reasoned and documented exchange between some and an irrational, vitrolic and slanderous diatribe by one. That may be expected to cause hostility and bad feelings.:(

I beg to differ, it was a mass debate organized by a master baiter.

And don't forget that undersized individuals may have scale envy – 1/35th at best.

Andy:
M. Thorsen got me involved in collecting KC about a year ago.....I saw a diorama he built out of foam at a HO toy store nearby and asked the owner who builds this stuff.....I called Thorsen and he invited me over to view his creations.....WOW.....I was hooked at what one can do with foam board....Almost half my collection of World War II pieces has now been collected by creating buildings and Dio's for a few collectors I have met over this past year. I can't collect all manufactures as costs are to prohibited.....I agree that many of your competitors are doing fine work and the quality of the competition is getting much better, However, KC still is number 1 in my mind.... I am looking for the 88, WS053 I think.....Can't find it and I love the chase to see if I can find one........That's the fun for me finding those pieces you don't have.....He the quality and detail up and buyers will come....
Thanks for a great hobby where if you are lucky someday you purchases may increase in value,,,
Regards,
Canucks

I think everyone on this forum knows "What they Like" and that it needs to fit their budget.......At the end of the day buyers "will purchase" what they like..............IMO......First Legion has produced an EXCELLENT and UNIQUE line of WWII soldiers....IRREGARDLESS of Scale.....IMO they are unsurpassed for "realism"......I for one am glad we have choices and as buyers we will continue to excercise those choices and celebrate the many variations of toy soldiers avaiable to us......and we will buy what we can afford.......Our choices will be based on many factors: quality, desirablity, availability, consistency of scale, and cost......First Legion has been bold enough to offer a product that is un-like any other...... and IMO they are to be commended for their originality......It is my hope that First Legions WWII series will be a success.......MOST on this forum are very impressed with their product.......Regards to all

Are you in the right forum? F/L is a few headings down...:confused:Michael

You all need to sit back and enjoy all the wonderful product, and since this hobby involves a considerable amount of financial commitment, one should make sure they are investing in a quality product made by a company they feel will be around for a while. In saying that though, i remember when a company was getting into something new, a company i wasn.t familiar with back in 1995 and against everything i was used to buying i bought some matte battle of arnham figures because i thought they were cool and look what has happened. So its prudent to stick with a good quality company but give the new guys a chance. To conclude, i really would like somebody to make a nice jadgtiger and isu-152. Thanks

Well those lines of distinction were obliterated for this thread by it originator, who also happened to post in a few headings down.;):)

Yeah, I kinda figured it was payback for Andy's F/L forum invasion:rolleyes:Michael
